This just a usual product of capitalism at its overflowing best. The richer you become, morality becomes more obscure.

That is a major problem causing social stagnation and poverty in places like Jamaica. The elite middle class who rule are morally handicapped therefore afforded responsibility on Jamaica`s fate because of their possesion of power and money but causing a recycled form of slavery due to their greed and egoistic decadent mindset that makes them think that them and them alone should live in ivory towers.

Very astute commentary and while I agree with your premise, don't you think it is the rich and not the middle class who are behind the problems of our two countries ?


Most of the societal ills caused by capitalism don't ever touch the rich in their walled-off lives but certainly affect the middle class and most certainly mostly the poor and working poor.

I can't speak for Jamaica but in the States the middle class is dropping into poverty at a very high rate ever since the Reagan years some 25 years ago and there was a net transfer of some trillion dollars from the poor and working people (middle class) to the rich.

You're right, Q, but I agree with johnnycakes that it's the rich more than the middle class (very small in Ghana in any case) that comprises the elites as run tings.

But here social class is also inherited, sometimes by people who aren't personally rich. Some people are untouchable by the courts, for instance.
