Vancouver's racial makeup:
Is is possible this is why it's "hard to imagine here"?
Couldn't be because such riots are new to the city. There was an almost identical riot in 1994, for an almost identical reason.
When I read this report, and all the others online today, what I think of is what if these fans were not white, what would the news coverage be like? What would the pundits be saying about it? How soon would it be called a "race riot"?
I guess I am reflecting on this partially because the anniversary of the "Tulsa Race Riots" just passed a couple of weeks ago.

it would have received more coverage in the dailies & corporate media than it did..
very few reported this story & mostly in the sports section...
i can't say what the media coverage would have been but i know for sure the public comments on the article would read something like this;
"typical behavior from these thugs thrashing their own neighborhoods"
I remember the two of us discussing this topic a while back. I understand completely what you're saying and am not surprised by the lack of media spotlight on this. There's nothing much else to say really. :shrug:
BTW, according to a 2004 article in USA Today ,10-15 riots occur in similar circumstances each year.

If only...
Vancouver fans are experts at rioting.
"There was rioting in Vancouver after the Canucks lost the Cup in 1994..."
The thing I am totally amazed at is here you have idiots damaging property, looting and assaulting individuals while being photographed and videotaped by literally hundreds of cellphones.
