my view is that often times a lot don't get involved in the heavy discussion because posters only want to preach to the choir and not debate. Posters rather than try to defend their point of view resort to name calling and ridicule. it look like nobody likes to be challenged.

I have to add, since I was last there Ocho Rios just DIED. I mean it, DEAD in the WATA. Since RC moved their cruise ships to Falmouth, Ochii lost her entire spirit. Oh Carnival and a few others still come there, but she puts on a semi happy face on those days. Ochii lost about 50 percent of her tourist traffic in all of this and the city is literally crumbling before my eyes. It looks unkept, things aren't spruced up at all. Many places of business are boarded up, some on main street and that does not look good. So many places I knew and loved are closed. So many shops abandoned. No even all of the usual beggars turn out to take up their spots right outside the cruise yard. Nothing seems the same as when I was last there.

The only bright spot though is still the night life. When I went out, that was pretty much the same . But it is not even close to the Ochii I remember. I have read many articles since and the harrassment of the tourist that they hoped to avoid in Ochii has just moved to Falmouth so what was really accomplished?

curious, for a loyal, regular and valuabe supporter of the induustry, what is/were Ocho Rios pros and cons ?
What would encourage visitors to or discourage visitors from visiting and staying in Falmouth.
Does the Jazz festival play any role in your visitation plans?
