that is a good question </div></div>I saw an interview where the NCAA president said the organization isn't doing anything until the criminal investigation is over. Then the NCAA will lead its own investigation to determine if any of its bylaws were violated.

For the last two weeks, I've been unable to look away from the real-life horror story that is the child rape scandal involving former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, and the cover-up allegedly perpetrated by legendary head coach Joe Paterno and various members of the administration (most of whom have been fired or put on leave). As a parent - hell, as a human - it's absolutely disgusting, and yet I keep reading every story, keep watching every clip, in the desperate but futile hope that it will eventually be revealed that someone, anyone, actually tried to do the right thing in this mess.

(If you've managed to stay away from this story, more power to you, and feel free to skip the rest. I just can't stop.)

Whatever Paterno and the administrators did or didn't do, Sandusky is the alleged monster at the middle of this, and I got queasy at the thought of NBC giving him a primetime venue in the form of a telephone interview with Bob Costas on last night's &quot;Rock Center with Brian Williams.&quot; Yet, as with everything about this story, I couldn't look away. I had seen Costas go into interviews before where he so clearly felt he was on the side of the angels that he didn't do the proper prep work - like a 2001 HBO interview with Vince McMahon where McMahon ran circles around an under-researched Costas - and I worried that Sandusky and his lawyer might actually get over on Costas.

In this case, though, Costas was damn near perfect. He had all the facts at his command, was ready with the right follow-up questions, and just kept giving Sandusky rope that the alleged pedophile seemed happy to hang himself with. Sandusky's stammering, agonizingly clumsy response to Costas' question about whether he's sexually attracted to young boys should pretty much kill any attempt to paint himself as the wronged party. The whole thing was just remarkably bungled by Sandusky's lawyer, and brilliantly handled by Costas in full prosecutorial mode.

A good interview (you can watch the whole thing below) doesn't ease the pain of the victims. It doesn't make the story any less nauseating. It doesn't get anyone their job back. But it was a welcome 10-minute bit of catharsis. Here's the ultimate villain of this story, and he's talking, and he's being absolutely destroyed by his interviewer. Far from a happy ending, but a welcome step on the road to hopefully getting justice.

With all the media attention that the Judge is getting for conflict of interest she will have to eventually excuse her dumb self

watched some of the interview with Costas. My initial thought was that Sandusky is &quot;slow&quot; cause mi couldn't believe him would speak out in public and not sound more assertive. The visible pause when asked if him attracted to boys was painful to listen to \o/. And his lawyer encouraged it.

Court records refer to him simply, as Victim One...

Last week, his mother (whom I will refer to as &quot;Mother One&quot removed him from Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall, Pa., where he was a senior and an all-star athlete.

Mother One also alleges that since the Sandusky scandal erupted, fellow students and the high school's football coach (who also serves as assistant principal) have all targeted her son with verbal attacks and threats of violence.

She also claims that the school's principal tried to convince her and her son not to report their allegations against Sandusky to the police, and that as recently as this month, refused to treat threats of violence against her son by other students as credible.

The Penn State scandal only seems to get more haunting by the day. What started out as unthinkable only gets more so as accounts emerge of short-sighted adults failing to protect helpless children. The latest report, once again delivered by the Patriot-News, is horrifying.

Jerry Sandusky's attorney says one of two new cases of alleged sexual abuse under investigation by Children and Youth Services in Pennsylvania was made by someone in Sandusky's family.

The investigation launched after Sandusky's arrest, yet the charges involve incidents that purportedly took place before Sandusky was indicted Nov. 4. He was charged with 40 sex crimes against boys. The Patriot-News is withholding the child's relationship to Sandusky, who has maintained his innocence.

&quot;If these two cases are found to be credible,&quot; writes Sara Ganim, who has broken several stories about the alleged victims and their families, &quot;they would be the first known cases to be reported since Sandusky's arrest that would involve children. All of the other young men who came forward to the grand jury and since indictments were handed down are now over 18.&quot;

Sandusky and his wife since 1966, Dorothy, never had children of their own. They have six adopted children and took in foster kids.

The school is stonewalling cause they know they have a MAJOR lawsuit on their hands

and right now dat deh school district should pay for the child to go to a private school of the mothers choosing

Victim one is an adult now, or at the very least, over the age of 18.

Why him mother never find out the first time the school release the child is beyond me.

Gen Victim one is 18 - a senior in high school. Not sure why she did not pick up on it but she did say something bout being a single parent &amp; ting so maybe she busy a work and miss the cues.. The thing is she found out and look how the school treating her son

Jerry Sandusky is back in the headlines -- but this time, not because of anything disgusting he (allegedly) did, because of something disgusting his lawyer, Joseph Amendola, is doing. See, Sandusky and Amendola don't really have much of a case in the trial, because, well, just because. So Amendola is resorting to incredibly sleazy, downright ridiculous tactics to protect his client. How this man sleeps at night is beyond me.

Sandusky's lawyer would like the judge to dismiss all 52 sex-abuse counts against the former Penn State assistant football coach, claiming that some counts aren't specific enough, others are lacking evidence, and the statute of limitations may have run out regarding 8 of the 10 alleged victims. Amendola is claiming that the charges related to the boy named &quot;Victim 2&quot; should be thrown out because prosecutors have said his identity isn't known, and they're basing their case on Mike McQueary, who said he witnessed the victim being attacked by Sandusky in a football team shower in 2002. Amendola feels that McQueary &quot;did not establish sufficient evidence to support these charges.&quot; The lawyer also is seeking a delay on the trial, which as of now is set to start on May 14, saying he needs more time to prepare a defense.

In a word: Gross. All of these legal technicalities make it seem like, to me at least, that Amendola is defending a guilty man, and this is all he's got -- litigious mumbo-jumbo.

It both amazes me and doesn't that someone is willing to defend Jerry Sandusky -- a man who's being accused of some of the most heinous crimes in recent history. How can anyone want to protect him? Even for an incredibly large amount of money. Is nothing sacred? Are morals bought that easily?

A spokesman for the state attorney general's office said Amendola's requests are currently under review, and prosecutors planned to respond in writing within a week. Hopefully they'll respond with the right answer: Oh, hell no. Because this is insane.

Sandusky <span style="font-style: italic">should</span> have a 'fair' trial. His lawyer <span style="font-style: italic">should</span> use every legal means necessary to get his client off (sic)...

If his lawyer deliberately botched the case because he's 'disgusted' by what Jerry did, then that would be a travesty. And any pursuant victory for the victims would be tainted...

Interesting. The Sheldon Kennedy story, which is the Canadian equivalent to this was aired on TV again. There have been problems with some of the junior hockey coaches abusing boys. More and more guys in their 30s and 40s are coming forward and filing complaints. Sheldon Kennedy was one of the first to come forward and complain. His abuser Graham James was given a light sentence and eventually a full pardon. He moved to Europe and started coaching boys over there. Since then, more men have come forward to complain about abuse by James when they are bosy. He is again in jail as a result of a very light 2 year sentence handed down 5 days ago.

Remember the Martin Kruze case? Martin jumped to his death from the Bloor Viaduct onto the Don Valley Parkway to his death 3 days after hearing that George Hannah had only been given a 2 year sentence for abusing him and 22 other boys.

Hadn't another Gardens equipment manager, Gordon Stuckless, molested Kruze and at least 23 other boys during a 19-year period ending in 1988? Yet when Kruze sued the Maple Leaf Gardens organization in '93, claiming he had been molested by Hannah and Stuckless from '75 through '82, why weren't the police notified? Why did Gardens executives hand him $60,000?

Or was it Judge David Watt, who had to have been moved by Kruze's courage in going public last February with the vile truth, prompting more than 80 other men and two women to come forward with their own horror stories, which resulted in the arrests of Stuckless, 48, and Gardens usher John Paul Roby, 54, who has also been accused of molesting boys in the arena? (Roby denies the charges.) What was Watt thinking three days before Kruze jumped, when he sentenced Stuckless to just two years in prison after Stuckless had pleaded guilty to 22 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault? How could Watt live with himself after the way the victims screamed at him and cursed his name in his own courtroom?

Or was it all to be put at the feet of Hannah? Why had he lured Kruze and so many others into his terrible trap with hockey sticks, game tickets, shrimp cocktails and concert tickets? What kind of man binds himself to a boy so insidiously, using access to Maple Leafs players on the one hand and the unspoken threat of discovery on the other, all tied sinisterly to going into an office for the nightly payoff?

Or should it all have been laid on Stuckless, Kruze's hockey coach at 14, the burly and elegant skater who continued molesting the boy after Hannah had stopped?
