actually they do NOT count people who have given up finding a job or who are stuck in part-time work but looking for full time...
i'm sure there are many other people they do not count...

On the contrary: They <span style="font-weight: bold">do not</span> take into account anybody who has quit looking for work or whose unemployment benefits have run out - even if said people are still jobless.

That's ^ the government's arithmatic. </div></div> there is a lot of information in these reports other than just the bottom line number..in order to get any real value form the report you have to look at the details. when you look at the details the number they talk about those who have stopped looking etc.

They talk about them, but the bottom line (pardon the pun) is that they are not counted, and they are not considered.

RichD, how can you <span style="font-style: italic">not count</span> an entire segment of the population who is jobless, just because their unemployment bennie have run out? Isn't that disingenuous? How can you &quot;talk about them&quot;, yet not include them in the bottom line of the reports? They are jobless, penniless (or close to it), hungry, homeless (or nearly so), and have nothing - or soon will have nothing left. How do you marginalize them so? Or, since it isn't you personally doing it - how do you agree with the government marginalizing them so?
