Trinidad replced the queen with a president (wonder if they refer to him as the Trinidadin queen) Guyana did the same.


didn't seem to have a significant impact on their outcomes

what is confusing to me is the discussion of becoming a republic has been part of the political debate for quite a while PJ was discussing..Seaga was discussing. i don't recall the simple replacement of the queen with one of our own ever being part o f that discussion. </div></div>lol well jamaican royalty is a stretch! (I mean what would be the criteria? whose gonna pay?) what might work is community ombudsmen or some such who works for the money, not no &quot;royalty&quot;

so now Jamaica's problems are a result of the Westminister system of government..AND the Queen of England being the head of state..
which , if we should follow “the Brains” here reasoning, replacing the British Queen with a &quot;Jamaican Queen&quot; … we will fix Jamaica

Get rid of the Queen of England and Jamaica's problems will disappear..

We probably need to have that done in other commonwealth that have the same problems.. Like Canada for example..
Having the queen as the head of state is ruining this country

we can start with set election dates, electorate voting directly for the PM, Ministers not serving at the &quot;pleasure&quot; of the PM weakening the Prime Minister, in other words,
The U.S. gridlock is partly the result of the weakened Presidency, the Americans are right not to want a &quot;king-President&quot; which is good (but of course, not perfect).
The PM's power tends to corrupt
