FRED Campbell's routine is much of the same everyday. He drops his wife to work and his son to school, then he returns home, sweeps up, cleans, washes on select days, and then relaxes to listen to Perkins On Line. When school lets out he goes to collect his child, then returns home where he does the homework/dinner routine, before he has to pick up his wife again.

Think it depends on the couple and if they are honest about the responsibility involved. the people I know in that situation are due to the men losing their jobs so the man will pick up the slack while the woman works. For 2 of the women, it is a strain cause the men dont do everything the women did in the house and that can present a strain.

my dad was a househusband for most of my growing up. when i was little, i didnt understand why he cussed so many people each time we went out in the street. but as I got older i realized that it was because he was backing social norms and people had issues with that.

as an adult, i will admit that i had difficulty finding a dude...i didnt want a man that didnt do in the home what my father did. i also still prefer my father's cooking to my mom's...although mommy can burn inna di kitchen too.

This is a comment from an offical from Father inc...

There is a comment that makes sense to me in in that article.. A parent should care for the children.... <span style="color: #FF0000"> I would rather stay home and look after my children than consult..</span>One parent should ideally care for the children.. all else is a compromise.... Every so often she who all men fear tells me she wants to work.. I tell her fine give me a month.. !

There is a balance interface between work and child care. My feeling is that the care of the child should take primarcy and one parent should be focused soley on the care of the children. I veiw this as an investment in children.

I beleive that children should be raised by the biological parents with secondary assistance by the larger familiy, and not by insitutions.. that parents need to set examples for children and the children have to see this.. And while modern times has degraded the role of men as fathers, it strikes me it belittles the mothering role... I too often hear the apologetic refrain &quot;I am just a house wife&quot; Maybe its me but to mould the mind and care of a child is the highest importace of society investment in the future of society, why so many apology ???

To me I am always struck by those who claim not to be materialistic but both parents work while leaving the child care to anotehr individual.....


Read the writing of Angela Davis there is a bizzare call for industralisation of child care and house work...I am against this...

I torn on this one as I know a house father in Jamaica who &quot;hustles&quot; but for the most part he takes care of the kids and the house. I guess it depends on the situation.

Look man - whatever works. I was just talking a colleague who does nothing with significant other for valentine's day. They love however to watch political debates and that turns them on lol. Nah but lemme try that with the wife and unu would need to change mi name to DPDB (Dead PDB).

i'm sure you must know that there are people for who this is not a choice...
they need as many incomes in the household just to make ends meet...

it is society that has created the conditions where people are desperate for wage-earners at the cost of neglecting the daily interaction with their own children...

Most times I leave the house it is because I feel like doing it.

I think this was the same during the hunter/Gatherer times. Then it took a village to raise a child.....Maybe it is coming forward!
My mom and dad lived in various countries (sometimes separately), for most our our young lives.....Granny and Aunts took up the cudgel.

I think this sums it up for most if not all Jamaican women....

If it's a case that him get fired or him lose him job then him can stay home for a while, yes. But everyday mi have to see the effort him putting out to find work. I am not minding any man. Yes I don't mind him helping out with the kids and taking care of the house, but as far as I am concerned he can — and should — do that even while he's working 'cause I am working and I have to do that too. So it has to be both of us in everything! I could not sleep with a man like that.
