When dem look pan di fact dat dem have comprehensive Health Care in dem country, dem noh inna noh war wid nobaddy else's country and dat unemployment low and there is job stability dem noh si why dem fi bruck dem neck a come to America.

Den dem a si di GOP candidates weh a run fi office and dem wussa fraida America.

Cant sey mi blame dem. Call mi ungrateful but a lot of what mi si going in this country sickens me to the bone. Cant sey mi proud fi bi a US citizen one bit.

I know many people in Jamaica and the Caribbean who say the same however there are 2 sides to every coin. For many who have &quot;family&quot; money/business they lifestyle they will live in the Caribbean/Jamaica will be much higher than living in the USA...hence they will say no thanks. I know some of the things sicken you but it is still the place where you have a great opportunity to succeed. As sophisticated as Europe (which I like) maybe the opportunity to succeed for a black/Caribbean person is harder than in the USA. I also think back to how many of us would never be able to go to college if we were in the Caribbean but are able to in the US.

Yes they are 2 sides... the people they interviewed were not who you would call &quot;established.&quot; Some were business people yes - college students - average Joes. They are looking at simple things like HC which they have been told by their government is a BASIC RIGHT and to think they can move to America where if you dont have a job - you are screwed, they think that is not a good trade off.

Me personally was enrolled in college back home an was in my second yr before I was<span style="font-weight: bold"> forced</span> to come here. I had a plan and goal that did not include the USA. The prob is I am here now and e pretty much routed with family and bills and yaadi yaah soh yuh have to mek di bess of the situation. But if I were home today and followed through with my plans - I would be one of those saying &quot;No thank you.&quot; Straight!

Wendy yuh was a brains...dwl...I was one of the &quot;dunce&quot; ones who probably not have been able to get into UWI or CAST because it was so competitive and &quot;creative/artist&quot; thinkers were not encouraged. I was surprised at how &quot;smart&quot; I was when I was able to get into college in the US. I am not saying if things were not different I would not have said no however I am just look at many places and the US provides an opportunity that many places don't...

There are many types of US visa...

I'm sure these folks who say &quot;no thank you&quot; fall into one of two buckets; and one which you've already identified, as the ones who have the luxury and affordability of where they are currently living. These same ones already have the affordability of buying an inexpensive flight to visit NYC on a whirlwind trip. But then again, what type of visa are they saying &quot;no thank you&quot; to? It is not as if the US gov't gifting out their visas.

Several European countries are on a US visa waiver program that allows a non-immigrant visitor to stay up to 90 days. So that is one luxury afforded to several European countries... Unlike Jamaica, where people have to go through tantamount of stress to get approved for a visitor's visa. As we all know, getting a permanent residency visa is certainly not a walk in the park as the process takes months and years.

But Liu Li couldn't help feeling terribly nervous: she was six months pregnant when she left for the United States, where she wanted to give birth to an American citizen.

Liu Li knew that going through customs would be a lot easier than obtaining a U.S. visa. In order to obtain the tourist visa that enabled her to go to America for the delivery, she had to carefully choose her clothes, and spend a lot of time practicing her walking and interview techniques. She memorized a host of details about her hotel booking and about famous sight-seeing spots so as to convince the Embassy officer that she was just another Chinese woman going shopping in the States.

Giving birth to a child abroad is not a privilege reserved to the stars and the very wealthy. Not going to dispute that .. If you are talking Jamaicans for example.. many are lining up for VISA now. The reporter went to parts of the world that put the US economy to shame! Don't believe for one minute dat di US is the only place of &quot;good&quot; opportunities. I am sure already know that is not the case.

The report was putting to light that not everybody is so convinced that the US is the &quot;best' place to live given the position their country is in and the things their government offer vs the US. They were making those comparisons and with that, came to the conclusion that moving to the US would be a &quot;down grade&quot;
