Finally got ahold of the older cousin. He is feeling much better now. I reminded him of what he said about our family being related to the Manleys. He immediately, without hesitation replied "Of course". Your great grandmother and Manley's grandmother are cousins."



I didn't even know that my great grandmother came from another parish. Neither did my Mom even though she grew with her grandmother for a while. Total shock! How did people travel such distances and get to such remote areas in those days?

No wonder I am so argumentative ...I have politician's blood flowing from more than one branch of the familiy treee.

Shoot, I hope that doesn't mean I am descended from that racist _itch Elsie Hunter. I have read that she was horrible. Wouldn't even allow Bobby Clarke to stay in the great house because he married a Black woman. He had many kids in his 2 marriages and they were all born in the cottage that his step-father (Shearer) allowed him to build on the grounds because the racist gmother wouldn't allow him to live in the great house. Wicked woman.

It doesn't mean I don't understand. It just means that some things make no sense to me and I have a hard time accepting. Rest assured, there are even more things about Canada I have a hard time accepting.

BTW, I have lived and worked in Jamaica but I did not grow up there.
