Tropi, I dont agree wid di ooman inna di fus video about eating soft foods wid di fork European style.

Yuh would flip di fork over tuh di concave side, den slide di soft or loose food unto it. Basically yuh would then have a spoon type senario.

I haven't clue. According to my mom, she taught us continental style but mi noh memba nutten bout i'. Mek mi go ax har.

I dont think the comment was insulting... it was the condisending attitude treating them like children..But that is a commonality with alot of Gringos...

Note they took out silver for her...

My experience is people out of of politeness will acced to westerns and provide knife and forks..First time I ate with an India family they got out knife and forls and showed me how they eat with fingers....

The converse is not the same... I have never seen a western company bring out chopsticks for a chinese of japanese or remove knife and fork for a arab who tend to eat with their right hand. I cant see ophrh removing the knife and fork from the table if she had indian guests!

After all this is the 21st Century where Many people frequently traveling to another country for their Business or Jobs. They may have different cultures, way of life. The concept of Global village is come into sight, still American hospitality is not providing water taps in Toilets. Isn't that pathetic and Crazy?
We are proud to be an Indian. We have culture (&amp;#2309;&amp;#2340;&amp;#2367;&amp;#2341;&amp; #2368; &amp;#2342;&amp;#2375;&amp;#2357;&amp;#2379; &amp;#2349;&amp;#2357 to treat guest as god. Even if we don’t use toilet papers in toilets but our hospitality teaches us to provide each and every facility which comforts to your guests.</div></div>

Oprah's elitism made a brief appearance in that clip. But you can't blame the lady. Being a multi-billionaire is bound to change a person somewhat.

She meant no harm and it was not an insult. It was nothing more than just an assumption on her part that eating with your hands means you are poor and uncultured. Lack of knowledge and experience in that particular cultural ritual is no reason for the people of India to bash the woman IMHO.

She learned something new and she is a better person for it. Move On!
