so we head to the nursing home on Roosevelt Island, and interesting place for people who have different kinds of illnesses and no one to take care of them. lots of west indians in there it was a nice and clean place, and the residents were people of all ages, some very old, others very young. the staff were pleasant - again, seemed to be a lot of west indians.


it was raining on and off, overcast and gray. but it felt refreshing being by the river. i love the water.



got a thrill from seeing this barge being towed on the river - i think it's the hudson river. apparently, it's the lickle blue boat on the side that's moving the big black one

sorry the sun wasnt shining on this building, which aparently used to be an asylum. so it guess it's pathetic fallacy i hear it's now some teaching facility. lovely building.


we took the bus to the subway on our way back to manhattan proper. is there no place the subway doesnt go?

some bridge, don't know the name - forgot what the relatives said.



it had a cable car, but i don't know if it's for tourists. would be so neat if it was some special way to get to the office

i'm starting to think a truly liveable city has access to good food on the roadside. i loved this fruit stall near the subway.




the coleus was doing really well in the damp weather. it was very cheerful.

so we took the train to somewhere near 6th avenue and w 14th street, and walked toward the high line. it was about 12:30 on Friday, and the place felt clean and fresh, great vibe. dont know what i was expecting, but felt good. neva shame fi haul out mi camera and tek pic.

we passed a bit thru what appears to be some fashion district. got excited at the alexander mcqueen store

we reached the high line. lickle most we neva come enuh, cause it was raining really hard that morning. but now, the rain had stopped. we ascended the stairs to the mile-long park that used to be an old railway line.





you can get on the park at different parts along 10th avenue. at w 14th, this miniature guy greeted us at the top of the stairs.

first ting we did was stop to eat. we got tacos. pricey. not too bad, found them a bit bland, but they perked up nicely when i added hot sauce.

at the start, i spend a lot of time looking over the edge of the park to the vistas below and beyond, rather than looking in the park itself

not a lot of colour in the park plantings, i'm guessing because summer's over. however, the grasses are amazing, lush.
