Oh.... AH, I see. I went back to my friend, Carl's FB wall to peek quietly at what started all the ruckus in the first place. No one noticed me.

Apparently, it's KEYES. Alan Keyes.

And he said, "Obama is a radical Communist, and I think it's becoming clearer... we are either going to stop him or the United States of America is going to cease to exist."

So, Philadelphia being nearly 100% Democratic, heavily black, liberal as all hell (politically), and very BIG Obama support - especially in the 'hoods like Southwest Philly and North Philly, and parts of Kensington and Fishtown and... well, never mind the grand tour of the city right now... the SWP and North Philly peeps are DIEHARD Obama supporters. A lot of the people who live in those neighborhoods have never ever voted before they voted for Obama in '08, and they ALL turned out in record numbers, and they will again this year to vote for him again. They HATE someone like Keyes.

Hundreds of thousands of people who have been eligible to vote, but who never registered to vote and who never voted, all registered to vote in 2008, so they could vote for Obama. In Philadelphia, I'm talking about, right now... All of these people suddenly wanted to vote, and they sure as hell did vote! They clogged the polling places - which were not prepared for so many extra unanticipated voters! - and made voting that day a nightmare for both Board of Election workers and the regular voters who always voted. EVERY SOUL in the city who was eligible to vote probably registered and did vote! In record numbers never seen before in the city's history.

It is just as likely that they will do so again. Although, I am sure that the city is prepared for it, this time around.

Frankly, it will be a no win for you. If you go in and speak out, so that all can see your response, you will get told that 'you just don't understand' 'It's a black thing' 'Stay out of it' or some such.

If you try to talk to your friend Carl one on one you'll most likely be putting him in an uncomfortable position.

Alan Keyes is a religous nut, so Jesus probably would not vote for him. He spent some time in Md running for congress and had a radio talk show on WCBM. The guy is really quite bright. He is an excellent orator and debater. He would eat both Obama and Romney's lunch in a debate and most people will not get in a match with this guy...I've seen him tear up some skilled politicians. They avoid him like the plague. That said, he is an oportunist. He left Md without success, and headed for the windy city to try his luck there. Did not work out so well there either...

Since we are talking about Philadelphia, and the Black Panthers were mentioned, do ya think the Panthers will show up at the polling places in Philly like the last presidential election to intimidate white voters?...and will Obama give them a free pass once more?

I don't know. Maybe. It wouldn't surprise me.

Look - in the old days, long before computerized voting, back when ballots were paper and stuffed into the slot of a locked box... Philly was famous for the following: Right before the polls closed, teams (from the other Party - Dem or Repub - both parties did this) would go out to the various polling sites, grab the polling boxes full of paper ballots from the whole day's worth of voting, and make a smash-and-grab run with the ballot boxes, running with them just ahead of the police. These teams made their way to the nearest river (either the Delaware or the Schuylkill - depending upon where in the city they were) and take them out in a boat... and dump the locked ballot boxes deep into the river, never to be seen again. or so they thought... Many years later, occasionally, one of these long-lost ballot boxes turns up and is discovered. lol
THAT's ^ how elections used to be run in Philadelphia. But don't tell the City of Philadelphia that I let out one of it's dirty little secrets. :shh: They might toss ME into the river for letting the puss out of the bag amongst non-Philly peeps... O.o

Rich, I don't know. I haven't lived in Philly (or voted there) since 1989. BUT it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that the stories and allegations that I've heard about that were true. Yes, I did hear that the Panthers showed up at certain white-neighborhood voting polls to intimidate white voters. is it true? Dunno... D'you want me to ask my old school chums who still live and vote there if they encountered any Panthers at their voting polls in '08? If you were Friended to me on FB, you could ask them for yourself, like so many other J'commers are and do... ;p
