nice recap of the tributes to bond movies past, wahalla. i'm a latecomer to the bond bandwagon, jumped on board out of curiosity about daniel craig, the first blonde james bond.

last one i saw before that was the one with Roger Moore and Grace Jones. Generally, i don't like Grace as an actress, too OTT and unsexy in her fierceness. plus, her body double they had running up the eiffel tower was masculine in shape and that offended me somewhat. that plus some snide remarks moore said after the movie about not liking to work with grace because of "all that hysterical laughter" or summat...

i remember bits of other bond movies (some girl dying after being covered in gold, probably from Goldfinger). and i think i managed to sit thru the one with halle berry, but it was the villain that intrigued me in that one, not brosnan or berry.

my true fandom for the franchise started with craig in casino royale, i've rewatched that movie umpteen times. i'm now getting into quantum of solace too, will need to buy the dvd.

daniel craig is getting a little craggy in the face, hope he can hold up for the next one. i'd like to see what fiennes does with the M role.

although i loved skyfall, i felt that bond became a bit of second banana in his own movie. the silva (bardem) and M storyline became so powerful, that bond's role became supporting. i like the new quartermaster, and i was more amused by his efforts with the computer to foil silva than with his design of the bond-specific gun (awesome tho that was) and the radio.

Bond said he hated the house...And Craig is in the next 3 Bond Films...60 million sterling!

U are right it is amazing that compared the time Dench and Barden were on the screen they took the film from Daniel...But it is an actors film more than the actioner IMHO... but this had a stronger story, u got the motivations of all the characters..

Except Eve sorry but she is just eye candi.. an too maga. At least she is not as forgetable as the other female character....!!!!

Sorry the best female character is still Dench.. and she is the best M.... Ralf Finnes has a lot to live up to as the new M...

I liked the digital aged bonds... I think that Dalton was acting wise and book attitude the best bond... . But Daniel Craig is most complete bond... He has the body, the beleivable killer, he has the mother substitution that makes him and his loyalty to MI6 work... A man in M postion will take the motivation out.. there is sexual chemistry between Dench and Craig... U know that Dench is eyeing him up and thinking candy!!!! And he is looking at her and thinking I want to do what she does as an actor...Mother Son dynamic..

But she still would have him killed... I imagine that she had a fling with Silva and he was in love with her that is why he would not kill her when he held her...

I am a fan of Scottish scenery and if you want a great drive, try driving from Aberdeen to Perth Via Bremear and Balmoral on the A9...in Autumn once u past Breamar... the hills wow u... Glaciation baby!

We're allied in this. David thinks Skyfall is the best ever (there's a rumour that it will be a contender for best pic)... he asked me what my favourite part of the flic was and I said the first thing that came to mind: the shot of the stag on the pillar/post... he on the other hand, had so many 'favourites' about this film.

Gotta say I sat up and took notice when Javier began 'toying' with Bond... as he was tied to a chair... snap,,, and when Bond inferred that he may not be so in-experienced ... couldn't tell if he was just sayin' or if he really was just sayin'...

No memorable quotes from this flick though...

and no Felix Leiter...

the gay thing has to be taken as I mentioned that bond went to Eton....Eton is know for its buggrist activitry... All public schools are.. I work with a public school boy and we call him the Buggarist... Look up the Wikepedia entry on both Churchill and McMillan as to support this concept of homosexual activity in the absence of females...(So is Munro in Jamaica!)

wahalla, i agree with you about eve - she was my biggest disappointment in the movie, and i had such hopes for her. i wanted her to have more grit, but girl drove in a whole heapa dust and dirt and nary a hair out of place in the chase scenes. den she shot bond, and the next scene wen she meet him, she start flirt with him. i was like, "huh????" is lilke the director didn't take her role seriously, and i has a sad about that

interesting idea about m possibly having affairs with spies, and the ramifications... it would certainly explain the silva psychology

i'd think M's power would be it's own aphrodisiac, and may attract regardless of the other person's sexuality. mi no know. a huge psychological bond can result, i think, from knowing someone has power of life or death over you, and this can get messed up by feelings of betrayal.

Two things annoyed me during the watching of the film...

Albert Finney game keeper and M get out of the tunnel... and head to the church and he turns on a bloody flash light.... (He is a game keeper the stakks stag, he would know that at night u see light for miles... and he heads for the church......He is running from a trained killer and he goes to the most obvious place!!!!

They are in hidign the attacks starts on the head of MI6 and they dont call for back up ????? there is a RAF station just up the road for christ sake.... the RAF flies training missions over that area. The RAF regiment would have been there in under 5 minutes.. and there is mobile coverage.....

Albert Finney!!!!! Mi seem an waina rack mi brain fi memba a who him. i remember thinking it was a big-time actor, but teevee came to mind. of course, now i see him clearly in "the dresser". thanks, Wallie, for that memory jlg. And yes, the flashlight thing did kinna fool.
