The commentary I have been reading says they want to get out fast and turn it over to a joint African force. What resources does Mali have that the French needs right now...I am sure if they have resource China will be there once the government is stabilized.

I do believe they have an interest as many of their citizens still own "stuff" (or the means to produce it) there because of colonialism. Point being they did not need to go to war to gain access to this "stuff" but to protect it and look good in the eyes of the people there...China was probably waiting in toes to set in after the dust settles and work with the "persons" in charge regardless if they are enemy or friend of any Western Nation....China just wants to resources...

why would they want to recolonize when they been very successful recently in exploiting the resources across the world without the responsibility of colonialism. nuh much easier for them to grease a few palms to mek the ppl dem gi wey dem resources. why waste all that money on war?
