Reeva Steenkamp was less than a month from the grave when she fired off a text to jealous boyfriend Oscar Pistorius.“I’m scared of u sometimes and how u snap at me and of how you will react to me,” the doomed bikini model wrote after the South African sprinter embarrassed her at a friend’s engagement party.
“I just want to love and be loved. Be happy and make someone SO happy. Maybe we can’t do that for each other.”
Pistorius wrote back and apologized — but blamed her for his “tantrum.”
“I was upset that you just left me after we got food to go talk to guy,” he wrote. “I was standing tight (sic) behind you watching you touch his arm and ignore me.”Eighteen days later, Steenkamp was dead and Pistorius was accused of gunning her down in his Pretoria pad.
Sitting in the dock, Pistorius’s face reddened and he teared up at one point as the damning texts were read. But mostly he kept his nose in a book.
“I can’t be attacked by outsiders for dating u AND be attacked by you, the one person I deserve protection from,” Steenkamp wrote in one text just a week before she was killed on Valentine’s Day 2013.
Pistorius, 27, insists he accidentally killed Steenkamp when he fired four shots through a bathroom door believing an intruder was hiding there.
Prosecutors said Pistorius — a double-amputee with a short fuse and a firearms fetish — chased Steenkamp to the bathroom and began blasting when she wouldn’t come out.
Capt. Francois Moller testified that most of them with typical and some he classified as “loving” exchanges.
“You make me happy 90% of the time and I think we are amazing together,” Steenkamp, who was 29, wrote in the same Jan. 26, 2013, text where she ripped Pistorius for forcing her to leave pal Darren Fresco's engagement bash early.
But in the same text Steenkamp portrayed Pistorius as a prickly and controlling boyfriend who gave his grief about everything from her gum-chewing to her accent.
“I was not flirting with anyone today,” Steenkamp texted. “I feel sick that u suggested that and that u made a scene at the table and made us leave early.”
Steenkamp described her romance with Pistorius as “a double standard relationship, where u can be mad about how I deal with stuff when u are very quick to act, are cold and offish when you are unhappy.”
“Every 5 seconds I hear how u dated another chick,” she wrote. “You really have dated a lot of people yet you get upset if I mention ONE funny story that happened with a long term boyfriend.”
“You do everything to throw tantrums in front of people.”
Moller also read out a message in which Pistorius told Steenkamp to keep quiet about an incident in a Johannesburg restaurant where he accidentally fired a gun — and where he got Fresco to take the rap.
"Angel please don't say a thing to anyone,” he wrote. “Darren told everyone it was his fault. I can't afford for that to come out. The guys promised not to say a thing.”
Pistorius, who was dubbed the Blade Runner because of his scythe-like prosthetics, was apparently not eager for investigators to see what was on his phone.
Pistorius’ claimed he forgot the password to his iPhone, forcing them to get help from Apple experts in the U.S. just before the trial started March 3.
The fallen Olympian faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder.
His defense is expected to begin presenting its case later this week.

Man you are all determined to think the worst of him. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
OK if onoo think he is guilty, what is the motive.
Personally, I think his story is weird and some of his explanations more than a tad bizarre (when I scream I scream like a girl
) but that doesn't mean he is guilty.... Clearly he is not that bright.
Anyway, there seems to be no compelling motive. Why would he just wake up at 4 AM and start shooting. It noh make NO sense.Comment

Okay so do you think they woke up at 3 AM started arguing, she ran away, he lost it and shot at her through the door to freak her out?Comment
