Mrs. Carter was out on a catwalk surrounded by fans and singing her hit, "Irreplaceable," at the time of the slap.


There was no word on whether the fan was kicked out of the venue.

It’s the smack seen ’round the world. Last night in Denmark, Beyonce had to reprimand an overzealous male fan who reached up on stage and gave Bey a quick slap on her backside. She responded saying, “Now I will have you escorted out of here, alright?”

Instead of wondering why a fan thought he could actually touch Beyonce’s body or praising her sharp yet firm response, some people are asking: How can Beyonce be upset at a man smacking her butt when she is shaking it in front of his face in a skimpy leotard?

That reaction is laden with a victim-blaming mentality. It implies that it’s Beyonce’s fault for dressing and dancing provocatively, and that her actions relinquish her of ownership of her own body and give a man a pass for failing to keep his hands to himself.

Those responses reeks of the pervasive rape culture mentality in our society. A woman’s attire and her dance moves are not excuses for inappropriate, unsolicited groping on the part of a man. There is no excuse for his behavior, regardless of how Beyonce looked or moved. The same can be said for women who are groped on the street, whether on line for the club or in a crowded subway car.

Beyonce’s encounter with an audacious fan represents one of many instances where women are touched inappropriately by strangers. And the pass given to said strangers just adds insult to injury.

...and what about accountability for women. I see women in North America more and more dressing like common whores. From what I have seen of UK women in foreign countries, they aren't much better.

Between the boobs popping out, de skirts clear up to dem mawnin' and de crop tops, it's a disgrace. How can one expect men to treat you if one dresses like trash?

Beyonce and her ilk with dem blonde weaves and slutty clothing are terrible role models for young women. I notice when I travel to other parts of the world, women still dress modestly....and mi not just talking bout de Muslim countries. You don't see cleavage at every corner and women dressing like they are crusing for the next John to pick them up.

so if some stranger slaps your butt you're okay with that? as much as i can't stand these *stars*, a stranger has no right putting hands on you. women dressed modestly get rubbed against/groped on the subway quite often.
