You say that they all do it. In order for that to even be considered a serious topic of conversation you would personally have to know every single person elected to plitical office.

Believe what you want to believe. How can I seriously discuss a topic with someone who would rather make broad sweeping statements that they cannot prove.

And how can I even consider your question when it is a loaded one. It reminds me of the famous loaded question.... "Have you stopped beating your wife"?

I'm not too concerned about what elected officials do in their personal life, as long as they can perform their duties effectively. Where I draw the line is when they break the law while serving.

I only know one politician personally, the mayor of my little town, he drinks occasionally, which is not against the law, he does not and never has smoked or done drugs, so there is one.

The Liberal leader said he last smoked marijuana about three years ago. It was at his house in Montreal, outside on a patio by the pool. “We had a few good friends over for a dinner party, our kids were at their grandmother's for the night, and one of our friends lit a joint and passed it around. I had a puff,” he told HuffPost.

Despite living in Whistler for several years during his 20s, Trudeau said he rarely smoked weed. He never bought drugs and said he never consumed enough to be asked to chip in.Once, in British Columbia, he suspects, friends added hallucinogenic mushrooms to his spaghetti, but he never confirmed it. The mushrooms in his pasta seemed to have a bit more of an impact than they should have, he said.
His first experience with drugs was at an Amsterdam café during a backpacking trip in Europe when he was 18. His friend thought it would be easier to order hash than a joint, Trudeau said. “We were trying to heat it over a candle, and it was just a total disaster.”
A few years later, during a trip to the Caribbean with his university class, Trudeau smoked his first joint. “(It) was the first time I really ever had a hit, but I don’t keep a clear memory of it, because it’s never really been a big deal.”
Trudeau said he wasn’t the one in his group of friends or family who was known to use marijuana. That title belonged to Michel, his youngest brother and the family’s most carefree spirit, Trudeau suggested.
A PERSONAL CONNECTION TO THE MARIJUANA DEBATE
Trudeau told HuffPost that when Michel died at the age of 23 in an avalanche in B.C.’s Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park in November, 1998, his brother had marijuana possession charges pending against him.
Michel had been in a car accident three months before the avalanche, Trudeau said. “One of the cops cleaning up the scene found a little cigarette box with a bit of pot in it,” Trudeau recounted, his fingers a few millimetres apart to suggest how little marijuana there was.
“Mich had charges pending against him when he died for marijuana possession even though it was just a tiny amount,” he added. Trudeau said that was one of the factors that led him to first support decriminalizing weed.
It wasn’t until last November that he came to the conclusion that legalizing cannabis was the only way to keep it away from criminal elements and away from children, he said.

pro-pot activist marc emery is offering his mea culpas to justin trudeau from a u.s. Jail for saying he'd smoked pot a few times with the liberal leader.
But emery said he did get high once with trudeau in august 2003 on a restaurant patio in vancouver, though it was emery "doing most of the smoking."
trudeau said friday emery was "flat out lying" about the 2009 allegations, only met emery once, and abstained from any pot use with the activist.

emery apologized in an emailed response to questions about his remarks. In the email, forwarded to qmi agency on saturday by his wife jodie emery, he says it was a "very loose and irresponsible misrepresentation of what most people would regard '4 or 5 times.'


"i am indeed recorded telling a falsehood that until now, i was unaware was out there. I'm totally embarrassed about it. I take my reputation very seriously, as of course, does mr. Trudeau, and i'm really saddened that i have caused him some grief by this clear misrepresentation."


emery said a video of his remarks only began circulating online after his 2010 sentencing and incarceration in yazoo city federal prison in mississippi, where he's currently serving a five-year term for selling pot seeds by mail.

"i am wrong, wrong, wrong," he said. "that video was recoded in july 2009, i was clearly upset that in the 2009 session of parliament, mr. Trudeau supported the conservative legislation on mandatory minimums for pot."


the video shows emery calling the now liberal leader a "hypocrite" for voting along with the rest of the liberal caucus in favour of bill c-15, which would have introduced tougher penalties for growing pot plants and saying he'd smoked pot with trudeau on more than one occasion.


C-15 did not pass but similar legislation became law in 2012 as part of omnibus crime bill bill c-10.


earlier this week, trudeau revealed he'd smoked pot "five or six" times in his life, including once about three years ago at a dinner party.





He was mp for the montreal riding of papineau at the time.
