It has only being quite recent that Jamaica has had a home grown post High School and Professional programme. Most of our athletes like those of many African and Caribbean country have been farmed out from early to better able foreign countries.

As bad as Jamaica's testing regime is, it would be interesting to see how many Jamaican Athletes on the list competed at a Jamaica Trial, got selected, went to an event, competed, then failed a drug test? Then you could lay the blame squarely at the feet of Jamaica's drug testing apparatus.

Tuffy I hear all of this... However we as a nation claim the medals even when the athletes train out with Jamaica we drap the flag over them we see it as part of the brand...... must we then not also acknowledge that these same athlete fly our flag when they are caught using ban substances.....We cannnot claim the medals in our name and then ignore the rest........
Rich yeah we should be allowed to take every thing... But these are the parameters in which the sport is played...that is the feild.. we need a standardise set of restrictions to which all conform.. I acknowlege it cannot all be equal... the only way.. each athlete wear the same clothes.. use the same equipment train for the same time.....we would not consider the start of a sprint important there would be no false start they would simply run and then compute the time afterwards when they cross the line...

But spell out the rest.
In the first place the draping and dragging of the flag is relatively new. But farming out the Athletes are as old as the hills.
I am saying that a large proportion of the doped up Jamaican athletes, did not and could not have been tested by JADCO based on the fact that they rarely if ever touched Jamaican soil, even though they ran under the Jamaican Flag in International Competitions.
Most of the legacy Athletes on the substance abuse list were competing for schools and colleges mainly in the USA. It is not to say they aren't Jamaican Athletes but it is to say they are not Jamaican Athletes that escaped JADCO, no matter how poorly run it is.

VCB awaits verdict in drug case
Friday, September 06, 2013
JAMAICA'S track star Veronica Campbell Brown will now await the verdict from the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Disciplinary Committee after her legal representatives ended their case at the hearing into her adverse analytical finding at 107 Old Hope Road yesterday.
Campbell Brown, who tested positive for a prohibited substance after competing at the May 4 Jamaica International Invitational (JII) meet in Kingston, was represented by former Prime Minister PJ Patterson, and celebrated California-based attorney Howard Jacobs.
The JAAA Disciplinary Committee was headed by former Chief Justice Lensley Wolfe, and included Dr Aggrey Irons and Lincoln Eatmon.
They are now charged with reviewing evidence presented during the four-day hearing, which started on Balmoral Avenue on Monday, but which was switched to the Old Hope Road premises the following day in an effort to avoid the glare of the media.
After considering the evidence, the panel will decide on a verdict, including any punishment, before advising the JAAA and the athlete and her legal team.
In June this year, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) described Campbell Brown's offence as minor.
"We can acknowledge that there is a case, but also take the opportunity to urge a sense of perspective... this seems, from evidence, to be a minor doping offence, according to our rules, so we want to remain realistic in our reaction, pending the conclusion of the case," Nick Davies, the IAAF deputy general secretary, was quoted in online articles.
The IAAF's declaration and earlier information reaching the Jamaica Observer that the two-time World Indoor 60m champion had declared the substance on her medical declaration form after winning the 100m at the JII meet are expected to go a far way in lessening whatever punishment may be imposed on Campbell Brown.

We need to manage this issue and our guys havent done a good job... The JAA should have addressed the issue... There is a simple solution to manage this issue and they haventLast edited by Wahalla; 09-06-2013, 02:19 PM.

One thing you must overstand. Comrades feel Athletics Administration is their birthright. JAAA is a Comrade Feeding Tree. Comrades are not known for good management. With Jamaica dominating in the Sprints (at least) and the thing buss out, I am pretty sure there will be some changes, but there will also be resource issues.
