Helga!
Her black coat is so shiny that I don't think it's food but good genes. For the record though, what is she eating?
You did well Nanook. Before I take another step towards getting Bfly's sibling, I will PM you.
I'm loving that collar too. Did you get it at Petco? I'm ready for Madame Butterfly to come out this pink one she's been wearing for a year and a half.Comment

This really cracked me up!
You're really making me give some serious consideration to a puppy, It seems I only remembered the work I had to put in and not all the fun stuff associated with raising.Comment

Re:Come & meet Helga
Good morning Kia, French Tickla and Tulip!
Kia, already since Sunday she has grown a heap! It won't be long and I won't be able to carry her or fit her in my lap. She has stolen my
FT, Helga is very angelic. She is very sweet and soft and cuddly.
Tulip, in the beginning I was adament I wanted to only get an adult. How wrong that was. This puppy will be shaped the way I train her, and not someone else. Going out in the middle of the night is not as bad as I thought it would be. I do have a kennel run right out my door though, so I just out her in there for a few minutes and go back out and get her. During the day we leash potty so she can learn that too.
Yes, her coat is shiny and healthy! It is silky soft and while part of it is genes, the other part is her food.
I am feeding her a combination of the food her breeder was feeding, and part Taste of the Wild and part Natural Balance. When the breeder food is gone I might start adding a little Chicken Soup for the Dob Lover's Soul large breed puppy to the mix to make sure she gets what she needs, since Doberkids grow so fast.
Her breeder is feeding a food called Paws, I have never heard of it before but they sure look great, all of Holly's dogs...
Paws
Well, crate training starts in about 2 minutes! I have a wood fire going in my shop where I will go spend the day so I don't have to listen to Helga scream and cry her heart out. I will start with an hour.
In her crate is a water pail, fresh blankets and her blue hippo, a duck and a squirrel. Here we go, sniff sniff...I don't like to have to do this but it is necessary!

Re: Baby romping pics
Helga is getting along at breakneck pace! I am not getting much else done, but I had most things done for this week ahead of time so I could devote my time to the most important task which is the job of making Helga feel welcome in her new home and be diligent in her training. A puppy's most important time of it's life is from 5 weeks to 12 weeks, and Helga had a perfect start. Now it is up to me to continue things and I dare say her first weeks with me will shape our next 10 years together.
We are off lead in the yard already! I do not recommend this practice for most people, to let their new dog off lead on the 3rd day but A) I knew Helga would come when called, and B) it is a mile to cars.
Paris and Helga are starting to bond. Paris finally realized that she can boss baby around, and she does. It is pure joy to watch them together. Helga is happiest when most of the dogs are in the living room with her. She loves to be surrounded by her new dog family! This makes my heart sing as I still have several older MinPins and one is 16 1/2 and I worried I would have to separate, but Helga is smart enough to know not to knock him over.
Paris loves to chase Helga around the yard..
When Helga romps, her ears go flying!
She looks like she's all ears and feet, so fun..
Well that was fun, let's do it again!
Today we will spend some time at the grooming shop again. Helga seems to like it there and it is a great place to help socialize her. I will give Paris the spa treatment and then maybe we will go walking about town.

Re: Baby romping pics
awww pointy eared Helga
btw do you have to clean her ears the way you have to with Paris?
Clancy has some old man ears. The groomer has a device now that can quickly get down there and pull out the hair.If you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.

Re: Baby romping pics
Kia I am thinking Helga will need ear cleaning, but she won't be growing hair in her ears like the Poodles do. This is my first natural ears Dobie so I will be keeping an eye out for ear dirt! Ear cleaning is pretty easy, I will just squirt the solution down there and wipe it out with a Qtip and cotton ball.
I love this baby to pieces already and am thankful I did go with puppy as opposed to adult. It is work but it is enjoyable work! Pure joy, I needed it bad.Comment

Re: A lost Rose & My Quest
Thanks Vanie. Helga is a sweet sweet baby and smart as a whip. Vegas and Dahjah, yeah Paris looks like a foo foo Poodle, but she is ruff and tumble. It is hard work to keep her looking clean like that!
PS...today Paris is wearing turquoise and gold bows.

Re: A lost Rose & My Quest
Marnin ceaBee and MGee! Yes, I can say without a doubt that Helga loves kitty's! Tango is giving her the stamp of approval, though he hasn't given her the famed "cat rub down quite yet". He stays put while she sniffs him all over. Walter is in hiding. He is here watching though.
Helga's ears are staying natural. I could never cut them, they are soft and beautiful!
PS..Paris nail polish is OPI,teeheeComment
