She is getting a very keen sense already, and tomorrow she will be 14 weeks old. She is getting huge and I can hardly lift her anymore. When she is playing with her squeaks or chewing on a bone if a sudden loud noise comes on TV she will stop what she is doing to watch and investigate. Only after she sees everything is copacetic, will she go back to her toys.
We are working on sit/stay already and she is doing great! Fun alert little baby girl she is.
She just loves her platypuses. yes, she has a pink one and a blue one..
She is turning into a striking beauty right before my eyes.

Tulip it is like if I turn around and count to three she is bigger! She is growing fast, so I will probably start feeding her Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul large breed puppy so she can keep up to her growth spurts. </div></div>
will she grow bigger than Paris, u think? what will happen then? </div></div>
Helga will out grow Paris by a lot as far as structure, and also in height. Paris weighs about 44 lbs. Rose weighed around 85-90 lbs. Helga will likely be 80-90 lbs of love and protection! . Her grandmother was 100 lbs but Helga was built a tad more slight than the rest of the littler. You had to really look hard to see it or they all looked the same across the board. It is a beautiful litter when that happens!
Helga will grow for approximately 2 years. She will gain height rapidly, and then pretty much just fill out. By 9 months to a year old she will be as tall as she will get. I guess we will know how tall she will get around April! I am guessing around 27 to 28 inches at the shoulder. </div></div>
actually, what i really want to know is, if Helga becomes bigger than Paris, will she become the boss of Paris?
MGee, I am sure that sooner or later Helga will turn things around and become the boss of Paris. For now she is so good with Helga I couldn't ask for more.
Yesterday we took a road trip to my holistic vet for vaccinations for the girls. We arrived in a Fall wonderland so we had to take some pics!
I got Helga home in time to catch the tail end of her roly poly baby stage, she is already moved into the growing up stage where she is getting very keen. She is so smart it is almost a full time job to entertain her and keep her out of trouble but it is big fun. I only have to tell her most things once. She has it figured out she can take her toys on the couch but no bones or chewies. The bead on her collar is a cremains bead containing Rosebuds ashes. It is a protector bead.
Such a fun baby. And to think I didn't want to start over with a puppy. pure joy she is. As you can see, Helga is growing leaps and bounds!
Big sister Paris trotting around in the leaves. Paris is also wearing a protector bead, but it is lost in her hair.
Marnin Kia & everyone! I could not have asked for a nicer couple of dogs, thanks! They are and endless supply of joy to watch interact, which is just the medicine I needed as I heal from all of my family losses.
Seveen, glad you stopped by, check in from time to time as I am sure to post new pics often, I am such a proud new dog mom!
Tulip, I will try to get the girls together soon. Saturday night Paris took her usual flying leap off the deck and came in limping. I KNOW I shouldn't let her do it, but I am hard pressed to try to keep a Poodle from acrobatics! There is a reason they use them in the circus. Thankfully, by last night she was walking in it again, but it was a worrisome 24 hours. I am mostly worried about a cruciate injury, which is very expensive to fix if it is bad enough to need surgery. ( thousands ). She is to lay low this week and rest. Not fun for either Helga or me or Paris, because the girls wanna play.
On Saturday afternoon I took Helga for a getaway, just we two. Though it is always fun to have Paris along, Helga also needs to be able to go on car rides without her Paris security blanket, and walk about with just me.
We went to the beach and Helga met the Great Gitchee Gummi up close and personal for the first time (Lake Superior).
She thought it was pretty awesome, and took it all in without any angst, except for the small wienie dog who's owner had it on a flexi lead and it kept charging Helga wanting to play. I almost let the owner have it, and would have if she had come close to us after I made an obvious attempt with fanfare, to avoid being near the wild wienie. Wienie's owner was so ignorant. I was trying to give my puppy a positive environment, and not scare her half to death on her first trip to the beach!
As we wandered the beach, Helga decided she loved the driftwood pieces laying all about, and would pick one up and carry it for awhile till she saw a better one and make a trade. it was pretty cute!
I will see how soon I can get back with pics of the two of them together. It won't be a real long time before Helga is taller than Paris, I think.
