Woohooo! Good for you, Seveen! Sometimes, if you can do it, it is easier to just hire someone. You can always add/change later, once you live with it a bit. Can't wait to see the photos!

Kia - I was scared to death what the price might be especially when she started talking about a 12 foot tree etc . . . and cutting down a tree

i was thinking i was going to have to do it in stages so i could afford it

but the price was about $1250

i was gobsmacked and signed on the dotted line

they are probably at my house now doing the tear down

to make sure i don't change my mind

i can't wait to get that crepe myrtle tree of of the middle of the front yard - they are pretty but they go through too many changes and in a few more weeks it will have those seeds dropping everywhere

we had a nice chat about how more efficient women owned business run

i also signed them up to do my cut my grass, weed etc starting October 1. The lawn man I have now is turning my yard into a ghetto - he hasn't edged the beds in weeks and there is tall grass growing in the back at the preserve line and up my neighbors fence and he's getting $120 a month . . .

Why are you paying someone to mow your lawn when you have ABU! BoyKia is my new lawn service.. He does a part in the AM, take a break, does a part in the afternoon

EXACTLY! Kyle has been my mower since spring...he now mows every 10-14 days in the summer and is getting really good at it. He even gets the blower out afterward and clears away any lawn scraps that are on the sidewalks and driveway! Oh...I do pay him though...I pay him in cooked meals, clean laundry, and a roof over his head [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

my son is the lawnman he even edges and he now does two of the neighbours and he gets $50 per cut and edge from the neighbours.

i don't have a lawnmover, weed wacker, edger or any of that CRAP
i'm a city girl and although i can sweep a mean sidewalk i know NOTHING about plants and lawns - wouldn't some one have to show him how to cut the grass at least once

and this grass is so thick - St. Augustine grass - you really have to have some power behind you to push the lawn mover

maybe i'll borrow my neighbors [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] and see if he can do it

he cooked dinner last night - and of course he swore it was the best meal of his life [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

YAYYYY Seveen!!! I am sooo happy for you! Yes I haven't forgotten your fake plants posts and alla that nonsense!

Boy I am on the fence over the lawn care thing. let's see...1 lawnmower, self propelled = what 500.00

One kick butt weed whacker under 200.00 and as cheap as 50.00 (Do NOT buy a 50.00 one!).

I think this is a great start to have a professional though, and build that relationship with them since you are new to this and now you can protect your investment. Maye some of the time at first you can be around so you can learn from the landscape people how to take car of your gardens and trees. You might find a great satisfaction in making things grow! (it really is fun!)

On the other hand...if ya have a money to pay the expert and that can free up your time for the weekends at sea, well...pay and pay some more! I just wish I was your neighbor!

I was thinking of getting the old time push mower since it is sooo energy efficient (which would please mrKia) but decided to stick with the electric mower.
