Lawn duty is controversial in our home..The electric mower takes 2 charges and every year I get to measure how long the grass is.. Usually by july I call the lawn service and then we move towar cutting the check vs cutting the lawn..

Boy I am on the fence over the lawn care thing. let's see...1 lawnmower, self propelled = what 500.00

One kick butt weed whacker under 200.00 and as cheap as 50.00 (Do NOT buy a 50.00 one!).

I think this is a great start to have a professional though, and build that relationship with them since you are new to this and now you can protect your investment. Maye some of the time at first you can be around so you can learn from the landscape people how to take car of your gardens and trees. You might find a great satisfaction in making things grow! (it really is fun!)

On the other hand...if ya have a money to pay the expert and that can free up your time for the weekends at sea, well...pay and pay some more! I just wish I was your neighbor!

so now at least i will know what i will have in the yard

Sounds funny but you do have to teach boys how to work
So lawn mowin is good for them and they enjoy the instant
gratifacation of mowing.

EXACTLY! Kyle has been my mower since spring...he now mows every 10-14 days in the summer and is getting really good at it. He even gets the blower out afterward and clears away any lawn scraps that are on the sidewalks and driveway! Oh...I do pay him though...I pay him in cooked meals, clean laundry, and a roof over his head [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] </div></div>

You pay the boy motherly love, the same that K ia does.
By doing chores such as mowing the lawn goes a far way in his personal development which should help him grow into a useful and responsible adult.

the good thing about my furniture is that it all "floats"

it can be re-arranged easily depending upon where folks want to sit and talk - i can make small talk groups or turn the whole place into a group
