None of my Jamaican friends had chili before they moved here. Now they love it but won't make it.
Many have posted that J Cans don't like tomato juice in stuff but will use tomato paste ? It don't matta, make it how you think you will like it. It's really not a clear broth soup though & some make a white creamy chicken broth "chicken chili". I guess it's what you have available or what you were raised on /used to.
Heck I make it with grilled bratwursts sometimes or mushrooms, bell peppas, and No meat.
