The funeral was today. As I said, I did not send my son. I did let him go to the gathering at the house though. I told him about it on Thursday and he didn't seem affected. He has had night terrors since he was about 2....this was the main reason I didn't want him at the funeral. Last night he was screaming out in his sleep and I tried to wake him. When he finally did I asked him what was scaring him so. He said that old people were chasing him. I asked him if it was his grandma and he said no. I said, so you are going to grandma's house after the funeral right? He said "you mean grandma's party?" I couldn't help but laugh. I guess because I told him that there was going to be food and people he thinks it is a party. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

I thought long and hard about it and I have to admit I acted quite badly. Yes I hate the woman and I am relieved that I won't ever have to deal with her again, but if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have met my husband and I wouldn't have had my son.

But at the same time, it's not like you'd go to Saddam's funeral and say he was such a wonderful man when you know in life he was wicked and evil, now would you?

Good that you were able to rethink your position (((Debs)))). A funeral is a time for family to convene and lean on each other. Your son probably met many relatives he had not seen before, which is a good thing, and since he only went to the post funeral gathering, it may not have been an entirely sad occasion, especially if there were other children there.

The nightmares have been for several years? Has he seen someone about that?

I'm a llittle saddened by some of the comments, especially in light of the possibility of history of domestic violence that was previously shared [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] I read your commments and 'attitude' as anger at your (ex)husband because of that history and his shirking his fatherly duties.

I hope you are able to move beyond that soon, and be a good bridge for your son and his father. It will not be easy, but is crucial to your son's mental health and stability..

Not many of us(well let me speak for myself)-I dont know of her history of "possible domestic violence"(which sounds like an assumption, by the way). I read her threatening to spit on someone's dead and that is simply childish and uncalled for. If you feel that strongly about someone stay home.
It is good that she did the mature thing.

You don't worry about me getting any. Whenever I WANT some I call his butt over and then tell him to get the hell up out my bed and out my house when I am done. And I haven't felt the need for about 2 months or more now. I am a single mom and I have more important things on my plate.
