Casual Dating - How to break up.

The primary purpose of casual dating is to determine what kind, if any, relationship will blossom. Basically it is about two people who are looking to get to know one another better, without commitments or promises. For the squeamish, casual dating may or may not involve sex.

We're not talking about high school / college stuff unless you were a very mature 20-something. So how did you or someone you know break up with someone after a few months of casual dating?

Thanks for the email. I want to level with you, I like you, but I don't think we'd make a good couple. I'm glad you had a good time on the nights we went out, I had fun too. I just don't think we're really compatible, and it's best to break things off cleanly.

I told him I had something to discuss with him. I had already given him feedback about some things that did not add up. We met at a park. We had a very long talk and I said I felt he was playing games and I didn't want to see him again. He denied it. He asked if he could give me a gift.

That was it. We never saw each other again.

A few months later when I found out he was a total player and actor....I gathered all of the gifts he had ever given me up into a box and returned everything except his music CDs and DVD and that last gift he gave me as it was a Chef boxset. No this one but you get the idea.

It went on for almost a year. I saw some red flags 6 months into it and tried to end it but he talked me out of it. Convinced me I had misperceived something.

I think those last two sentences sound a little harsh and the "we" sounds like you want to shift the blame and yuh might get drama

I would rephrase this as,

I have really enjoyed our times together and getting to know you.

Nevertheless I just don't see our relationship going anywhere. I'm just too busy with my work to give this relationship the time it deserves.

Nooooooo. This is NEVER appropriate for casual dating. You are asking questions that are just icky. Also in asking questions, you are opening up yourself for responses.

If you are sure you want to break it off, you just break it off cleanly. And politely. INHO.
