i don't use the dryer. I usually put it up. Never any problems with smell afterward - as a matter of fact most times when i take it down - after a few days - it's like a bouquet and smells very fresh -

and i don't have to worry about the barber changing up my shape every time i go get my 'fro trimmed or those black ears i used to have from burning myself with the curling iron

i chopped off my hair last year and am so glad I can drag it into a ponytail now.. however when wash & wear it does look like it needs a trim. I find when I avoid the hair dresser my hair is healthy and grows like a weed (now if I could only cut it myself )

The first picture is a picture of the lady that started the Sistaloc technique,Joanne, I forget her last name. She is based out of San Diego, Ca.

My hair is the length of the 3rd picture posted and my locs are a wee bit smaller/thinner.

(((Moosh Moosh))) my husband did not like my locs when I originally had them done. I still had perm on my head, so it was very straight on the ends. However, he loves them now, and he now has his hair in locs. My only suggestion to whomever decides to get the locs is make sure that you are near someone that can guide you thru the care and they can do the locs for you (tightening) in the first year or so. I do like them thin, however it can be overwhelming if you have to do the tightening yourself!

If I had to do it over I would, I just would not have them so small, it can be overwhelming if you are force to tighten yourself!

You are quite fortunate. My husband just lick out against any dreadlocks nice or not (I think the reason is my ex-husband was a dreadlocks and he knew how much I did care for him at one time) also he knows I have a soft spot in my heart for the dreadlocks man dem in general.

I know for a fact he would not grow locks for himself although I really think he would look dy@m good in them [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I am just so tired of my hair problems. I had major chemical damage in December 2003 from a permanent color which was applied to my hair just 4 days after a relaxer and my hair has not been the same since. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] I always had beautiful thick hair but since that happened to me I can see a difference.

I am not sure hair is supposed to continue to fall out from chemical damage 2 years from the occurrence but it could also be that I just turned 40 this year and its just a part of aging?
Also I can be a very high-stressed person at times and that could probably play into it as well. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Whatever the reason I just look at my hair sometimes and I cry. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

So true, but even when I am i JA I make them roller set my hair, blowdry and then I wrap it.

I use a variety of products, Salerma, Wella, Nioxin, Chi, Desert Essence (these you could buy on-line or in a health food store), I also use tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner.

You know who else use good products...the Chinese, I go to them when I want my hair very straight, they blow then use the flat iron...it looks great when they are finished.

It is based on the needs of your hair, ie. Wella has shampoo and conditioners for hair that needs extra moisture, or colored hair. Dessert Essence is a whole line you would have to check out the items and see what would work best for you. And so it goes for the rest of the items. Tea Tree Oil shampoo and condtioner is good for all types of hair.

I've seen tea tree oil shampoo in the pharmacy but never thought to buy it...

another week has passed and my hair still stands. hopefully over this weekend I'll be able to do something about it, I'm thinking of steaming it out then braid it or something...

put some in some conditioner or oily bizness...throw on plastic cap..steam yourself and your hair under hot dryer...
