u know, i had to tell mi dawta that this prom thing is a completely farrin culture to me. i graduated hi school here, but mi did still a relative newcomer to canada, so mi nain know the runnings.

so hear, this is prom culture:

1. expensive dress fi di prom
2. expensive shoes fi di prom
3. hair, nails - must be done by professionals
4. make-up - new muss buy fi go wid outfit
5. limo haffi hire
6. prom ticket haffi buy ($75)
7. she get date :shh: so date outfit haffi coordinate, but she no waan show im di dress and spoil the surprise
8. after party a kip so she need fi carry change of dress and shoes


a mean...

i sewed my own dress fi graduation...

a momentary lapse

she knew black wouldn't work, and clear wouldnt work, and was at a loss. good thing she talk to me and me at least plant the idea of gold - though now mi ting bronze is the way to go.

choo u no know di drama of the prom dress. living yeyewata bawl inna di house caw she come to me wid a dress twice the price of what me tell har and me tell har seh a too much money fi a frock weh a go wear one time.

di pickney bawl mi seh. that's when mi know seh mi really no get it.

her sister never went to prom. so a the first time me really a get expose to this thing.

I enjoyed prom. Didn't go to my school's prom cause it was a catholic school, but mi go mi HS boyfriend prom and had a blast and yes, we were a hot ghetto mess royal blue and white were our colors and him did have scarf an cane like him a blasted godfaada aye sah

Whatever shoes she gets .. tell her to get them in time where she can wear them around the house for a day or so fi &quot;test drive&quot; the comfort. Hate for her to go to her prom an havi siddung fi most of it seka boot pain
