I guess not because I used to work at home (telecommute) so de silence neva bodda mi cause mi did always deh pon conference call or a go meeting. There is a large community here of moms & 1 dad who have chosen to sahm so a lot going on here in terms of socialization. When this construction is finished I would be alone from bout 10 - 2:30 which would be time to finish up chores, make phone calls, arrange appts , etc.. so ie noh so bad. (gym a mawning time after drop off to school)

anyway, in the theme of the thread...

Me - basic houshold stuff - washing, cooking, cleaning, but share this responsiblity with the kids..
me - grocery shopping, mostly bulk at Sams and Costco


Mister - handles all the financial aspects of the house..
Mister - pays all the insurances and maintains cars.
- takes the trash to the curb. Son takes out the
trash each nite
- Mows the lawn. Says a him *exercise* dat..

Mowing the lawn IS excercise. I'm exhausted when I cut the grass and I'm not sitting on acres. Damn lawnmowers are heavy... Especially on a hot day. I like it, though, for the solitude. </font>

Ok I concur,...the mother goes to work whilst the man stays at home changing nappies,when the woman comes home from work tired and exhausted after a hard day she takes over the nappy changing and stays up with baby however long baby takes to get to sleep.

My husband works construction so is off work Dec. through early April. I do most of everything I can (including lawn and gardening, yard work) and cooking/cleaning. When he is off work, I go into an accounting firm to work until April 15. Then he does the cooking and child tending and some cleaning, even buying groceries.

He makes a great "MR. MOM" especially when our girls were babies... he was terrific taking care of them. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

For a start nappies would be changed,and it`s highly unusual for a woman to go back to work the day after having a baby wouldnt you say,which would mean that she is at home while hubby is at work.

I am a family man,been there done that,wear the t-shirt and the cap,no matter how we protest about equality in the home there are always some roles that eventually becomes hers and his,I believe that is why men and women are built differently,we should appreciate those differences.

but I remember when the babies were born..
I was the one who had to get up at nite when de babies cry, cus Mister had to work in the morning.. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]
You know, me did young.., [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70367-help.gif[/img] so yes I did just dat...and he slept all nite without interruption..
Man ask me if a never tired all the time.... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
so thats why, after the SAHM stuff fe two years, ( 4 years - 2 kids) and antoher 3 years (again for the kids) ..and with the loss of the second income, and having to account for everything, and every dime, hell, I said, I have a couple of college degrees, I am marketable, I can do this.......enuff.. (and he had a good job that paid very, very well so he was gung ho, that I stayed home..)

Well the ones who have older kids in school have a lot to do.. There is the crew who read the wall street journal and financial publications on a regular and invest so dem a mek $$ from home.. dem also volunteer at the school class mom, pta involvement, boy &amp; girl scouts.. There is also the other crew that start home based businesses, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, etc.. so there is a lot of intellectual stimulation as well. Many of these women that I know were professional women, CPAs, Lawyers, Program Managers &amp; such so the talent is being re used in different ways.. The only ones I have seen who have gone to work f/t are the mds (who still a pay dem medical school bills), plus as MDs they can work per diem as there is a glut of doctors in the county where I live. Nurses do the same work one or two days a week when their kids are older.

But what the kids like most is coming home right after school and you being there for them .. as well as being able to take them to their after school activities , yet get their homework done and be in bed by 8:30 the latest. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

If anything, a dem wouldnt have to work expecially if them have practices with partners, and most try to set dat up within a couple of years.
In fact, fe me doctor, (me go deh tiday) a tell me how him just come bak from 6 months vacation..

As fe de nurses, a dem can set fe dem scheduling fe accomodate dem kids...but most dat I know dont just stop working to stay at home..
they usuually have flexible schedules and hire someone to take care of the kids, (pick up, drop off, etc) if the hubby or the SO dont want to step in..
In fact, most that i know will do do that..

if u are an advocate to stay home..den dats your choice, and u will defend it no matter what...
but u still will alays haffe deal with other deep and emotional issues of staying at home..cus dat by itslef is no joke
