HOnestly, I thought about it for a minute and what was written in the scriputes. All I could remember was "Greater love has no man than this than to lay his life down for a friend" I knew there was a verse with the word "greater" and "miracles" involved, since I couldn't remember it, I figured it was non-existent...not a wise conclusion I know. Elisha received his power from Elijah...Jesus received His from God. Hmmmm

I came into this post because I saw it as a way to learn and share. I'm embarassed to say so but I don't know much about the story of Elijah and Elisha. I have therefore decided to sit this one out and just learn from you guys.

In addition to my Shunamite Woman questionnaire, this will be my homework tonight.

KJV Corinthians 16:20 - All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

The opposite of this to me would be the kiss of betrayal like the one performed by Judas to Jesus. However this is a direct command to greet one another with an holy kiss. What therefore is considered an holy kiss?

In Italy and some other countries, men and woman alike greet each other with kisses on both cheeks. As a greeting, such kisses do not have any sexual undertones. I think a holy kiss is such, just a greeting, a gesture of pure love for one's fellow man and no sexual attachment & motives behind it.

NO need to fell embarrassed about what you don't know, I don't have a divinity degree, I just write based on what I've learned either through my own readings of the Bible or sitting under a teacher of the word, or from listening to tapes. What I know about Elijah and Elisha is just what's written in the Bible. We all learn by stating our understanding and being open to Biblical corrections or references.

Queen, I was thinking the same thing. One thing that baffled me however is that at times we greet each other with smiles but our heart is saying something else. So, if we greet our fellow brothers with a kiss that is not a of sexual nature are we indeed greeting them with a 'holy kiss'?

Not necessarily, Judas greeted Jesus with a kiss, it was a kiss of betrayal, his motives were not pure, neither was his heart.

So I guess to greet each other with a "holy kiss" means to do so with a pure undefiled heart with no alterior (sexual or otherwise) motives.
