If you're at work and you get a phone call saying that your wife and son were involved in a car accident and they were taken to different hospitals with no futhur information regarding their conditions which would you go to first and why?

Good one! I do have quite a few: things being out of place, having to repeat myself, dirty bathrooms, people who slurp tea/soup/drinks, and toothpaste being squeezed in the middle, are some of them. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

There are many things I enjoy doing - including spending time with the boys - and I often do any of them when I am in the mood or time allows, so it is hard to list a favorite. I would have to say however that I would love being home with that special someone curled up watching a movie, listening to music, or just doing something we enjoy as a couple/family.

What misconceptions about the church would you like to disspell?

Excellent one. First and foremost, that it is made up of perfect people. Christians are not perfect - far from it - and some are nowhere near commited. I think if more people understood this, they would look past people's failures and see the cross of Christ.

Secondly, not because someone may know a Christian engaging in questionable practices, does not mean all Christians are like that. As with any constituency of people, some are far less diligent than others.

Thirdly, that the Church has has no relevance. We have not done a very good job of making known the wonderful things God has done and continue to do in people's lives. In the absence of this "evidence", there will be indifference on the part of those who want to know how the Church can help them at the point they are in their lives. People are looking for signs of God's power and they are not seeing it. Perhaps some of the television ministries could show some of what was going on, instead of just preachers preaching and selling tapes/videos/CDs afterwards. IMO, It really makes us look bad.

Tough one! I would go see my wife first because of everything she represents and mean to me. It is hard to put it into words, but she would be the most intimate part of who I am - my partner, my soulmate, my rock - so it stands to reason I would want to see her first.

There would be no out-clause in that contract so we are stuck with each other, in sickness and in health. My wife is God's gift to me so there is no giving her back to Him (except through death). Chemical imbalances affects moods/behaviors but thank God they can be treated, and of course, there is prayer and divine healing. There might be some challenges but I would know that underneath all the behaviors was the person I marry. Long and short of it is that we would just have to work through those things with God and our doctors, but I would be there for her seeing she would have been God's gift to me.

CEW - i'm getting a picture of you that's probably not true, so i'm going to test it:

would you accept an opportunity to become a missionary in a part of China where the people are not Christians, and where your goal would be to have them adopt Christianity?

Frankly, in a sense the goal would be wrong. As a missionary, I would see my responsibility as going in there and becoming one of them - so to speak - and through whatever missions we are working on, pray that my life would reflect "something" that would draw them to want to discover and embrace that "something". If at the end nothing changes, I would be content with having done my portion, which would be to reflect the love of Christ in becoming a part of, and helping a group of people I do not know. I would not accept a mission where the *primary goal* is to have a constituency of people *adopt* Christianity. Sounds a bit like spiritual bribery - we are doing this but you have to do that.

Thanks for answering my questions so far.

The photo doesn't really say much about your dressing techniques. So, if the fashion police stopped you would he.
A. give you a ticket to see a fashion coordinator
B. Ask you for directions to where you shop
C. Say that your clothes reminds him of a party he went to in 1969
D. Think you got out of the bed and was in rush so you forgot to iron.

Hang on to the dress, do not eat too much ice cream, and save enough money for a trip to somewhere in the Caribbean *perhaps* in 2004. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
