So if your whitemen friends do just that...and hypocritically say that, Hey I like you to be friends and we can hang out...but no we cant date, it means they got a fear problem....they dont wish to be seen in the arms of a black woman.

tropi.. let me distinquish something... if a white person choose not to date someone of color or of a different race.. that is discrimination..... but that's a far cry from racism.... it's different to me...

..i disagree with the above premise in its entirety.....

i believe people have a right to date and marry who they wish... and to be attracted to who they wish...... most of the world is dating and marrying people much like themselves.. people tend to find others that they share commonality.... color,religion, nationality.....

now if they have a problem with anyone else dating a person of color, or of a diff background.. then id say they are racist.... but if they just happen to choose to date someone of their own color i dont see a problem with that...

take the reverse... please all stand up.. how many black people on this board would like to date a white man or white woman..marry and have kids.. I am sure there are many that would not.... are they racist to me? NO.. they just choose not to be with a white person for marriage and children..

so what? get over it.. and move on.... and find someone who thinks more like you... doesnt care about your color.. and goes beneath all of that...

If you truly believe this then you are indeed naive. You said that you are Jewish. Don't your realize that there is even still a lot of resistance to marrying Jewish people in many circles?

Before you dismiss this as an isolated problem restricted to where I live, I am gonna send you some links. Go and read what guys who live all over North America think about Black women....and no, these are not KKK boards.

These are boards that I have visited but I don't post there. To prove a point to those in denial on here, I did two threads on Christian boards 2 years ago and posted them on-line here. The people who read those threads were SHOCKED Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was against board rules to post links to other boards. Those 2 threads have now been deleted from the Christian boards as too much time has gone by but I have found MANY others.

I dont think its an isolated problem or issue anywhere.... and i am not trying to negate your experiences which are all very real and painful to you.....

I am just saying i dont think its racism.. in many cases.. thats my point...

as for resistance to marrying Jews... sure.. and to Catholics.. and to anyone different than their own.. YES YES YES... of course....

I felt the pressure my whole lift to marry a jew.. because my dad was very active in Jewish causes.. and survival of the Jews .. and it was his belief that rituals. history.. would be diluted over time.. and in fact some of it lost over the generations if too many did marry outside.....

he is right to a degree.. my son while raised with a Jewish education.. bar mitzvah.. going to temple... has no real affinity to Judaism.. is rasta .. tho he doesnt like to use those words to define himself.... but he feels more connected to other things than judaism....

i realize antisemitsm is as rampant as other forms of racism..... but i dont think if someone comes from a strong Catholic background and they choose not to date a Jew for fear of falling in love and not wanting to marry one...for religious reasons a problem...

my old boyfriend of 5 years that i lived with.. we were very much in love.... he would have married me... but he came from a Catholic home.. and i did have some problems with that.... and was not comfortable in that environment.. nor did i want to raise my child catholic... I wanted very much to raise him a jew... and then from there he had the freedom to choose.....just as i did in not marrying a jew despite my upbrining... difference for me was that my husband was not religious and was fine with raising him as a jew.

I know what you are saying.. it exists for sure.... im just saying yes if its down right... i wont marry or date based on skin color or religion because you dont like blacks.. dont like jews.. are biggoted... then YES call a spade a spade.. its racial discrimination and Racism...

i think you got to take it person by person.. what their reasons are and what their life choices are....... there are many reasons why to date or not to date someone.... just may go deeper than the skin alone..

again im sorry for all the pain you seem to suffer... and i apologise if im not seeming to understand...... i do...

Yes, it is case by case. Racial discrimination or preferences? I think there is a difference.

A white guy not wanting to marry a black woman because of his hatred towards the black race is a far cry from a white guy who prefers white women over black women because that is his "preference". He may also like tall women over short or redheads over (dear I say, blondes).

Not all can be painted with a racist brush.

I do agree with you though Tropi. Much of it is racially driven.

It would appear to me that the problem is not so much that white men are reluctant to date black women,its that the black woman who the comments were obviously aimed at,would seek to date a white man,even when its obvious that most of them do not wish to date black women.

I as a black man would find it demeaning to continue to seek to date white women,or women from any race for that matter,or even to question their preferences if/when it had become plainly obvious that they had no interest in dating men from my race.
It would no longer be an issue for me whether a particular race found my race unattractive,or did not date them for whatever reason,I would simply cease to look in that direction and concentrate on those who *did* find me attractive,......unless I was ugly to the point that *all* races found me unattractive,....then it *would* be a problem.

Yes I can understand religious concerns. Religious compatibility is certainly something that it is valid to take into account when considering marriage. BUT if it is a Jewish person who has converted as in the case of a Messainic Jew, and the person still refused to marry the person because they were of Jewish heritage....yup that would be discrimination.

it may interest you to know that after speaking to about 15 of my closest male friends (who include africans, african-american, european-american, caribbean, and hispanic)
every single one of them holds nothing but love and adoration for black women. actually the only one of them who has any preference at all is a certain someone who says he "doesn't want anyone darker than himself".

this somewhat idiotic view is theoretically because of his bad history with the darker skinned black women he has dated. maybe that's a whole other thread.

my point is that although i believe you in regards to the difficulties you've experienced with dating... - i find it hard to understand what is wrong with the men where you live since everyone i know has nothing but love for the sistas.
