It is hard in some places to find a Jamaican - owned business.

Try to get a loan as a Jamaican and it is impossible.

it is sad to say but I understand the logic behind my frustrated fellow J'cans' decision to not return settling instead in other islands.

funny this topic...and in Jamaica we have no problems when I act Black....er...and then YT...and Black...and then YT....

The whole thing about this phobia about acting YT and people of different races reaching out is that of a disease called "Red Yeye"

an extreme sense of jealousy of those who have seem to have done better and extend it to others, other than themselves who suffer the disease.

(((Q))) tek it easy wid Blue Gi mi fren. I think he is really not impressed with the person lifestyle of ms. Jolie and such, at least that is what I see coming across. That it is more for media attention than for the good of the child, and of course the fact that it is an black child being used. You really can't blame him because these folks always seem to have hidden agendas. But again the impact can be far reaching in terms of helping destitute children worldwide. The media is powerful and it works.

so there r times when u feel the need to act 'black'...as opposed to wat....i am intrigued by this....how is acting 'black' in Jamaica typified....in a predominantly black nation, it would be interesting to hear how it is that we behave as the black people that we r....an how do u determine when and how to act which way....am really curious to finally hear this behaviour admitted to and explained

Evan, this phenomenon, actin Yt is something that I have only seen illustrated here on the BB by one or 2 Martians.
So whatever Michael and his likes did importing yt wives and exporting Black Beverly`s is of his own choosing.
Acting YT seems to be a fear of not doing what others can do in a civilized and efficient way.
So the usual excuse is, "Bway, mi poor" or "Bway mi black"
Others step forward more boldly and expose themselves the same, by accusing their own of acting YT when opportunity arises when they themselves have never bothered to lift themselves out of being entrenched Black.

Some eediats see that by acting Black is to be noisy, to disturb thy neighbours with sound systems and to chat loudly with total disregard to the peace and quiet of civility.
As well as to totally reject what a White person does in anyones best interest.

so wat it all comes down to is that u see black being 'noisy etc' when u act that way an r accepted and 'white' being 'civilised and efficient' and u act that way when u want to be accepted by whom ...the blacks acting white or the whites themselves ...and since we r a predominantly black nation of Jamaicans, wat is ur daily countenance...the unruly black or the civilised white....juss trying to get an understanding of ur mindset based on ur own words

mek mi tek a chance. what she is trying to say is Jamaica has no infrastructure in place to combat the rise in poverty, matter of fact (and I agree) there are more in need of aid than the aid available to them.

Lack of education (an mi agree wid dis) is seeming to be the issue here. Maybe if more were spent on education it would result in fewer births to persons who are unable to care for the children.

However the educated Jamaicans are opting to leave in record numbers whereas the higher incidents of emmigration occurred in those less educated, how do we stop this?
