Scottie, I remembered reading that story when you first posted it, and had to read it again; such a sweet love story. You have a beautiful family, but mi jealous of all the trees yuh able fi plant in yuh backyard, ackee, sugar cane, banana, sweetsop [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Gosh, why do I live in this cold state of maryland again????

Scottie. Great story. Beautiful family. I can relate to Beverly's experience growing up in Grange Hill. I also grew up in Grange Hill. I printed the entire story to share with my family.

Beverley's father, "Brother Wood", who passed away five years ago, was one of the most spiritually stongest men I have ever met. He continues to be a inspiration for me to this day.

When Gilbert hit the Island, Beverley, Jerome, and Brother Wood were in that house. She told me he had to brace up against the door because it kept flinging open and water was flooding up over the floor. Beverley was screaming hysterically and she said he was as calm as can be. When the eye passed over, she begged him to come with her to a neighbors' concrete home but he refused.

His reply was that his Lord and Savior Jesus would determine his fate. He told her he was born during a Hurricane November 19th, 1912 and his faith was with Him and he would not leave that house.

Bev feared she would return to a demolished house and swept away father. I was there 12 days after Gilbert and I can tell you that every house around that little shack was gone, and all that happened to that house was the Ackee tree fell on the corner of it and some zinc on the roof was pulled up. Bev told me it was the talk of the neighborhood and people came from all over to see for themselves when they found out that he had stayed in that house and virtually nothing happened to it.

We have shared some wild stories about my Ja experiences and you have helped me off the board through some strange situations.

Now you have shared you home, your family, all your experiences with everyone. I am very happy to see you and your family.

As you know I have a home here in Arizona. This dry climate is a total opposite to your environment in Florida.
Its a treat to see someone raising the same things I love to look at in Jamaica.

Some day man, someday we will be in the same place at the same time; Thanks for the story.

Cutiep, Beverley wanted me to ask you if you know her (Wood Family from Race Course [Davis Ave] and what part of Grange Hill you are from. She has an older sister named Ruth an older brother my age David (47) and another brother Robbie (Skippa).

I'm thinking I talked to you before about this but can't seem to remember how it went. (must be the age thing)
