after the great lightshow, Karen & I repaired to our room...rested....checked out some Jamaican TV....FWIW, we both know now where to find " The Best Dressed Chicken " !!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img] .... and wandered out for dinner....
The food at CA, while healthful, nutritious and filling, was not Ja by any stretch...nary a country pepper passed anywhere near this food... ...we sat through the horrible entertainment, realized we were tired and cranky (much like the children we wanted to avoid! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] ), and went to bed with our heads full of memories from our first day together in Ja, and far too full of anticipation for the adventures yet to come...

Great sunset shots.
BTW, I wouldn't classify Jamaica Grande as a luxury resort...It's nice, but not very luxurious.7/5th of all people do not understand fractions.Comment

shortly after sunup

I woke early, after the most restful sleep I'd had in some time....and headed immediately to our balcony, threw back the door, and stepped into our first full day in Jamaica!! I smiled the dreamy smile that became a constant companion...." I can't believe I'm finally back!!"....
A quick shower, dress, grab my Bible and head out the door to greet the day properly....
Karen was still sleeping comfortably and I, being the kind of guy that will let you sleep until you're ready to wake (unless of course, there's a plane to catch, or the house is on fire!) left her there to enjoy her dreams.....
I made my way to the Sea, one of my favorite meditation places .....the Sun, off to my right, painted the Sea before me with endless shades of silver and gold....only now am I ready to give thanks and praise to The Creator...thanks for the gift I was given,thanks for guiding us here, and thanks for protecting us along the way.....

I don't remember what we had for breakfast....I doremember there was no breadfruit, no brownstew chicken, no callaloo, no ackee!!!! and there was an ackee tree right in the front yard!!!
so maybe just a little fruit, bread and some of the world's finest coffee.....
Trevor, the friend of a friend, was coming to pick us up mid-morning to go out for the day...so we gathered our belongings, and met our new friend at the gates....we really had no fixed plans for the day, and told Trevor that we simply wanted to see things that aren't in any tourist guidebook....take us near where you're from....
"Would you like to go see the Rastamon?"
It was as if Trevor knew exactly the experience we were looking for!! so, off we went....Comment

We headed back west, towards MoBay, chatting and getting to know each other...in the course of our conversation, we inquired about Trevor's family....he told us he has 5 children...would we like to see them? Karen asked if he had fotos of his kids, and he said no, we'll stop by my house and meet them!!!!! Can you imagine??!! this man doesn't know us from Adam&Eve, and has just invited us to his home!!! Now, I'd heard from all you fine folks at Ja.com about the friendliness of the Jamaican people, but I never expected this!!!!!
We stopped along the highway somewhere so Trevor could buy some guinep from a roadside vendor....what a treat!!! we'd never eatin' guinep before, but after a quick lesson, we were suckin' fruit and spittin' seeds like it was second nature....it's an interesting likkle fruit....a flavor like none I'd ever tasted, with a mouthfeel not unlike jelly candy.....with the added benefit of the seed-spit!!!! ptooey!!! As we approached MoBay, Trevor pointed out a place that he called "Lickaput" (Lilliput)...he explained that it was land formerly owned by the White Witch (Annie Palmer?)...it seems that a group of squatters moved onto the land, and had become so firmly entrenched there that the government had to provide electricity and water to the area...I was encouraged to hear that the people here had said to H-E-double hockey sticks with the government, and carved out their own places on land that was rightfully theirs....
As we turned onto a gravel road to our left, Trevor then explained that he is a resident of Lickaput!....I remember thinking that this story just keeps getting better!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
I'll continue tomorrow...it's late and I'm tired.....

I can see right now you need to see the Dr. .....for you are coming down with a disease. The cure? we all know the cure.....…when’s the next trip?
You just need to start the preparations, you don’t need to book yet, just start and the disease is under treatment.
