I finally catch with reading your report to find you are at Jackies.
My oh my…Ivan cleared the green vegetation bad!!! Shug, this area that is so desolate now, was thick, thick with trees and plants before the storm. Huge clusters of aloe plants aligned the perimeter of the building. The difference is disheartening when you know what it used to look like. You would have loved photographing the greenery. Still, your pictures are beautiful.
I sat in the lounge chairs for over an hour while the ladies got their massages. I loved the sound of the waters crashing on the rocks in front of me. Eventually it began to rain HARD so we all relaxed in the waiting area. Sleeping a little…chatting a little…some writing…some reading…we all just enjoying the vibe as the rains fell.Comment

Finally got DSL installed so I can surf at home to my heart's delight.
I've enjoyed your trip report immensely. I am trying to plan a trip to Mayfield for my son's 9th birthday. I won't be climbing so thanks for the pictures. I'm more of a sit meditate and eat kind of girl.
Glad you liked Negril. I haven't spent much time in Ochi but hope to get over there soon - maybe during my July trip for a night or three.
You actually had my mouth watering talking about Miss Sonya's patties - lobster and crab - that will be my first stop when I get home.

I keep tryin to stay away from this forum,--am heartsick for JA and sometimes this just makes it worse [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] but come back time and again. Reports like yours ,Shug , are the reason why. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] You pictures are beautiful, and your stories bring back sights and scents. Have spent most of my time in Ochee. Only 2 nights Negril 5 years ago. Your report makes me feel as tho I've been myself, and now I MUST return!! Thanks for your time and efforts.
Iread ALL 16 pages in about 3 hours--hooked is hooked!

At Jackies there were lots of trees and hammock here and there. It did not look blank like this, but I never really took pictures much over to the right so I can show you. It did not look like this barren place. Still there is the aura there that not even a hurricane can spoil.

When it’s finally time for my massage I am totally relaxed. Miss Paulette gave me the best massage I’ve ever, ever, ever had. Whew that massage was no joke. As she pushed and pulled and stroked, I am listening to the call of the ocean. The lull and the sound of the water smashing against the rocks lets whatever remaining tension in my body disappear. After Miss Paulette finishes I lay on my stomach and listen to the water. I think that I fell asleep. I’m not sure when but I came too but I didn’t want to leave. After laying there for what seemed like an hour. I decided to get up and get dressed. My body felt so loose. I put back on my clothes and took my last glimpse of the grounds. When I headed back up the stairs toward Tonya and Stacy they told me that Tommy was out front waiting for us. I went up to Miss Paulette and thanked her and told her she had blessed hands.

3 Dives
After we got into Tommy’s car, Tonya suggested that we go to 3 Dives. Me and Tommy talked about the people that we knew in common. He asked if I knew Jahbuddah and Queen B. I told him not in person, but just through the Boards. Then we talked about how nice and WONDERFUL
Ms. Marilyn is. I told him that I knew he had to be good peoples for Ms. Marilyn to recommend him. And yes, Tommy was very nice. Tommy dropped us off and told us to call him for a ride back down the cliffs. We said goodbye and thanked him. I already knew what I was ordering-THE LOBSTER. Stacy ordered jerk chicken and Tonya ordered fries and callallo. I was instantly drawn to the view of the cliffs. We had missed the view when we came up for the Board party. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I swear I could just get a book and sit out there for a couple of hours. I’m not usually scared of heights, but standing that close to the edge had my heart skipping a beat, but giddy at the same time. The girls sat down at the table and I took picture after picture after picture. A couple of ladies came and sat down on the benches near the water. I heard snippets of their conversation but didn’t pay them much attention because I was absorbed by the ocean. Tonya later came over and started talking to the ladies. They were from Maryland…..well it’s a small world. Tonya told them that if they have time they should check out Jackie’s. Those ladies appeared to also be taking a chill type of trip. They continued talking and talking to a driver who was telling them about the runnings. I just kept clicking the camera. There is a little hill of white rocks behind the benches at 3 Dives. I kept climbing higher and higher to take more pics. Once I saw the outcome, I knew my effort had been worth it. After the sun when down, I finally joined the girls and was able to enjoy my lobster.
