I'm wondering if Port Antonio will be Ochie in 5 years time - especially now with cruise ships coming there.

(We had also made a side trip in the morning to Islington to see an old classmate.)

Coming thru the center of town, I saw this dog atop this building. At first I thought it was a statue but then I saw him move!

You had to be there. He was just chill, on top the building, surveying the place like all below were his subjects. Had to snap it. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

Ok – so unbeknownst to me, during this whole trip, there was secret plot going on, only to be revealed to me much much later. I mention this now because it has a good deal to do with all of these little detours that keep happening.

So yes, another detour comes up one day.

Hubby had to run up to his dad’s - my father in law lives in Guys Hill. We drove thru a small town named Gayle. From the part of the north coast we happened to be on at the time, best way to drive is one of 2 ways: thru the Gulf or by Retreat. We usually go thru the Gulf nowadays – the old way thru
Retreat will tear your car in 2 the road is so bad.

Besides, when you go thru the Gulf, part of the way you get to hear the river
roaring down the hill – the White River.

Since I can remember, I’ve always, always LOVED this stretch of land as you go up thru the gulf. It’s about half way up thru the drive up to Gayle. All of a
sudden, out of nowhere, you see a piece of property, the front of an estate
really – called, The Cedars.

These little pictures are worthless and do nothing to show its beauty, breadth, depth and expanse. Even worse, wrong exposure so pix came out bad. Since a child, we’d always just wisk by it. No time, no time, no time.

Hubby stopped for me – a dangerous, dangerous thing to do, considering the 2 way road is about as wide as I am tall.

We got there as the sun was setting. I got to drink it in. Green, green and
more lush green, as far up the hill’s estate as the eye can see. Just beautiful.

Hope you can see the front drive and how far it goes up – where your eye sees it stop, it goes on for about another half mile. Gives you an idea of how big this place is.

Always wonder who owns it and the history behind it. I took rolls & rolls of
this property. Who knows – next time I go it’ll probably be sold and
condos will be going up. – sigh –

How can I rationalize this? Well, at least it was all natural foods – yam, cocoa, fish, june plum, mango, bun&cheese, pear, Red Stripe, rice & peas, cane ... Wait – yuh nevva no seh Red Stripe nattrall?!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

Anyway – these are just some kids I took along the way.

I think this little girl is going to be a judge. She was serious as a heart attack. She wouldn’t give me a smail for nothing!
