I could about weep with joy .... these few photos are so awesome and I gotta say it agian ...

I am fairly new to this board and have not tagged along on one of your journey's .... what a absolute PLEASURE!!!!

I am rather certain this trek will be out of my grasp .... but .... do you get some sort of 'feel' for it with a drive in as far in as one can go???? I feel soooo drawn to get to be a part of this somehow!

Don't know if Magic got back to you about the Blue Mts. or if you've kept up w/the lastest postings. To avoid the numbing and painful aftermath of hiking 7 unforgiving miles, zigzagging up Jacob's ladder and all his related family members, I would suggest RUN, MAN, RUN! DON'T DO IT! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif[/img] But seriously...if you're not already physically fit:
--Run or jog about 3 miles 3x or more times a week for 2-3mths. Your thighs, calves, and knees will thank you for it. Also, your heart because breathing gradually became difficult the higher the altitude. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

L and Magic, at Whitfield Hall there`s another place nearby called Wildflowewr Lodge. Did you see it?
I`ve heard of people going there too on the way to the peak.

Hey Q. Actually the place I'm referring to, as well as the place in the pictures is Wildflower Lodge. The actual Whitfield Hall is just about a quarter mile up from it. I was just referring to the district as a whole.

As we careened upward and onward from Hagley Gap, we missed a great photo opp--about 10 schoolas riding on a canary yellow Caterpillar tractor. We thought it was caught on camera but when we viewed the photos later that day, we saw that it wasn't there. But picture it...10 pickney in school uniforms, boys in their khakis and girls in their navy blue and white uniforms. Some on back, both sides and in the front end loader (that's the part on the front that scoops up all the dirt etc). They were all smiles as we followed behind the tractor. Also priceless, and funny, was when they pointed to our rover and yelled out, "Whitey! Whitey!" Well, I know it wasn't me they were referring to. I had a natural milk chocolate tan. not much gonna scare mr G nu fret, but really, do they still rent mules to go up on? i never did it that way but at this age it would probably be the only way id do it again.

Bwai the mule woulda roll off the mountain if it try climb up there. I don't know the state of the trail 20-30 years ago, but from what I've been hearing it was easier and somebody even ran all teh way down it. But I don't think you can do that now. No evidence of mules though.

spend a lot of time on J.Crow myself. If ever there was a country that could be called God's...saw a rainbow literally materialize...a sweep of clouds come at you just over eye level then you are in the clouds...and after the rains when the waterfalls erupt out of the foliage.

all the way up, lol...good thing for you Magic she is dainty and not mampee lol...
