An arborist in Jamaica told me that mango, like bamboo, have invaded the Jamaican landscape, and grow wild now in many areas in the mountains. The hills round Gordon Town are full of wild mango trees. i love mangoes, but i can tell you that the smell of rotting wild mangoes is not welcome.

Part 22 - Ochi by Night

We were planning to stay at the Sky Castles. However the unit's owner called me and advised that since the hotel portion of Sky Castles is closed, I should switch to his other condo at Turtle Beach below, for no extra fee. T was really looking forward to Sky Castles and didn't care for the restaurant/ bar/ pool anyway and the associated throngs of tourists that they would have surely attracted if they were open.

I was actually excited to have the place to ourselves, save for the few full time residents of the condos. We made ourselves feel at home and sat out on the verandah to soak in the wonderful vista of the harbour and the town stretched out under our feet.

Friday night dinner was at Evita's. The car struggled up the steep hill and we pulled into the lot. It was quite empty for a Friday and again I'm not complaining. We get the prime corner table with the best view of the sparkling city lights down below. I don't remember what I had to eat, but I do remember that we had a good time. The food is always good at Evita's, and the ambiance even better. I wouldn't mind making it a habit to eat here every Friday night from now on.

In the morning we're supposed to meet Ochigal and Swedish for breakfast at Fisherman's Beach. Unfortunately we overslept! I wake up to my cell phone ringing and Ochigal on the other line is asking 'Where you at?". Lord have mercy. We rush down the hill to the beach, and the ladies are just finishing up. So we take the food to go and drive to town as another adventure awaits us today!

I see. I was hoping that it was just a problem with the new board and can be fixed. It will take a while to transfer all the pictures and then go back and rework the links.

OK, I really wasn't going for the Guiness World Record holder of the "Longest and Slowest Trip Report to Ever be Written", but it sure does look like I'll place first in this category.

However since all the pictures got deleted as a result of the move, there was little motivation to finish. However, thanks to the gracious help of Q.K. (Everybody give a round of applause for her!!
