just a note that a few people have been killed on motorcylces going from Little Bay to Negril Spot in just the last 2 years that Ive been out there. Take caution when riding on that road. No joke business that!

Thanks Guys...I do have lots more photos and some stories to post. I appreciate the interest.

I want to clarify that this IS NOT MY HOUSE. It belongs to Cug, who is one of my closest friends in the world. My husband and I are trying to help him get the place up and running, help with business end of things, etc, but it does not belong to us in any way....just my "home away from home". It is JAMAICAN owned and operated. Anyway, sorry, busy weekend. Will post some more later, I hope.

I will write a little more right now. So, there is a lot of work to do, and I am anal about the way things look. If there is to be a party, then this place will look as spiffy as we can manage.

I have brought down some photos of various things, including some railings and so on, and we go over them....as ideas. We have had several ideas, but not really decided on anything.....one morning a couple of days after we arrived, Cug announced he was going off to the morass and would be back later....long story short, he went and cut some mangrove, took it back, stripped the bark off, and created the filler pieces on the loft veranda. When the mangrove is green, it is easily bent, and I think the results are stunning.




The rear staircase to the loft was done on a different day, with red mangrove root. It is even thicker, and again, looks unique.




I learned that the red mangrove has been used for dye in Jamaica for eons. It was really really red, and Cug and his Mom were telling me about soaking the shavings to create a red dye - which will stain anything and everything permanently, so we had to be careful of it.

In other places, he had already completed it with Bamboo. Half splits for the Bamboo bar, strips for the downstairs rail area, long pieces for the fencing that is directly in front of the house. I thought it looked very cool!

So, a few things that we did....paint some of the interior.....Cug has to be the messiest painter I have ever seen....actually, correction....was the messiest, because after we spent an afternoon cleaning drips of masonary paint off textured tile, I think he learned his lesson...but, it looked nice, and made a big difference...even though it isn't completed in my photos.
