[img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] I hope he got better as the trip progressed! Our daughter,Isabella ,has asthma too, so I know all too well how scary that can be! We finally bought a portable hand held nebulizer which has just been a lifesaver, literally! It takes just 2 AA batteries, runs silently, and fits in a purse cause it only weighs about 5 oz. with the batteries in it. It's about 5" tall and 2" wide, so very compact! We have used it on the plane, in the car..anywhere!

Imanni was just diagnosed with asthma the past year, and I still don't know exactly all the triggers. Each time has been due to a cold except once was an allergic reaction to a cat.

Where do you get the nebulizer and the medicine that goes in it??? That sounds like a very important thing to have around [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/helpsmilie.gif[/img]
If I would have been thinking right, I would have asked the Doc. before I left [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img]

I guess I can't think of everything, this trip really showed me how hard it is raising the boy alone [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

I am just so thankful he was ok. I kept the number to the Negril Clinic handy that night, but I'm not sure what equipment they would have had...

the md generally prescribes the nebulizer and the meds to go with it

usually after a few cases of visiting the md or the severity of the attack.. this way you can get the prednisone like stuff (usually its albuterol for the kids) as needed.

Hey Bandanna!
We have a home nebulizer that uses albuterol and xopenex meds that the doctor prescribed for her. My hubby bought the tiny,portable nebulizer on his own. The insurance did not cover the hand held one, but it does use the same meds that the doc prescribed for the larger one. Isabella is almost 4 and is not yet coordinated enough to inhale the med from the inhaler type you have. I think most of it ends up in the air rather than inhaled deep into her lungs, so for us, the nebulizer works much better for her age. Next time you travel, check with Immani's doctor about getting some meds to take with you,just in case you are in another emergency situation. We always keep a bottle of Prelone, (the liquid Prednisone) on hand in case Isabella starts showing any difficulty breathing. The doc trusts that we are able to spot when she needs it. We find that her triggers are colds, fever, and cats! For the most part, I find the nebulizer heads off any major problem before it has a chance to progress. Whenever she shows some chest tightness, the nebulizer helps open her lungs up right away and her breathing becomes normal again. We have been fortunate though that she has remained healthy and has not needed much intervention. My hubby feels that if we are prepared for the worst, it is like an insurance policy against the worst happening. I just hope that he is right about that! Hugs to you and Immani! I take my sweet time this morning. Swedish comes, and we drink coffee. I give Imanni a shower, and get him dressed. We eat, he plays with his toys and watches some TV. Ras calls about 10 to see if he is ok. Yes he is doing good, thank you. I kept Imanni inside for the morning, and monitored his breathing. He still has a cough, but no wheezing [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] thank god.




I have a little visitor sometime that morning...


Swedish left for her yard sometime that afternoon, and I tell her we are going to walk down the beach a little later, and may see her then.

We head out to the beach late that afternoon. I have 500J tucked away for the man I got fruit from 3 days ago [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img]
I hope the extra $$ will make up for the time that has passed.

We walk out onto the beach, and I see Carol. I tell her I am looking for the man, and she says he gone home, but she will tell him in the morning that I was looking for him and not to worry he'll get his money... [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif[/img]

She says her son waited for Imanni all day yesterday [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] I tell her about the asthma, and our trip to YS. Her son is not there today, but we walk down to her "area" and there are other kids for Imanni to play with. He goes straight for the swings, and the little girl there pushes him.

I get more jewelry, an anklet thing I bought myself that Swedish loved. SO I bought one for her, and a couple more for my friends back home [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif[/img]

We talk for a while, and Imanni swings...










Another little boy comes, and Imanni is so happy, but the boy doan want nuttin to do with Imanni [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]



They do play together a while...

I look down the beach this way and I feel anxiety, we need to go before the sun goes down!!! I must see him before I leave here...

We head next door to Bar-B-Barn and my palms are sweating... I want to see him, but I don't want him to think I am looking for him [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif[/img] I am here with my son, and I just don't know what will happen...

Luckily I have an immediate distraction....


There is a family sitting on the lounge chairs on the beach in front of Moms, and they have 2 girls. One is a big girl, maybe 7 or 8 she is running around with her little sister topless... Well Imanni took one look at the big girl and he had to have her [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] She played the hard to get part very well [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif[/img] she ran from him giggling and screaming, smiling all the way... Her Mom is all smiles at Imanni "You like Josephine?" she asks, and Imanni says "yes" [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]
