almost an hour later we arrive at <span style="font-weight: bold">Reach Falls</span>. The place is much different from how everyone had described it. Contrary to what I was hearing the Falls is indeed open to the public now. None of the higglers that everyone was warning about were there. New wooden buildings were up and going up including the ticket centre and a medical/security centre for visitors.

A greeter comes to you as soon as you are out of your car and explains where to purchase your tickets and directs you to the Falls. Very nice touch. The staff was really personable and engaging from beginning to end for us

We arrive at the Falls



There is a &quot;hidden&quot; cave to the right of the falls. you climb thru the top and come out the bottom. We asked about a cave I heard called the <span style="font-weight: bold">Mandingo Cave </span>which I wanted to explore but it is an hours hike.





This is the &quot;run off&quot; section of theFalls







The water is coming from the rivers in the Blue Mountains, so the temp is shall we say, refreshing To me and Egghead it was like taking a dip in an Alberta lake but to the jamaicans about the place, pure shivering and teeth chattering did go on

C refused to go in the water but G grews some balls and dived in poor boy was yelping the entired time

I didnt have any swimming gear yet again but still went in - tsshirt and skirt I could have stayed in the water alllllll day because today was THE hottest day yet in Portland an the water kept me cool and less miserable

I would LOVE to do this

We did return to Black River later that night to hang out at a little rum bar that is open 24/7. It is interesting to see how ppl watch you when u are a new face in their neighborhood.

at the end of the day, one of the security guards at the Falls went spearfishing. He comes back up with this little guy: Mr CrayFish



The poor thing was &quot;tortured&quot; to death as they passed it around to curious tourists which included me
Mr Crayfish got so stressed that he shed a leg to get away from all of us.





They toss the guy back into the water expecting him to come alive again...of course we waited an waited and waited
