Here’s some gas. And believe – this WASN’T the highest I saw.

I think I have one here somewhere to show – let me look – but the highest I saw for regular, was $77!

(if I’m thinking about my metrics properly – isn’t this working out to about $4US per gallon?)

Aye sah - it's a sad, sad day when you're paying more for gas in JA than in NY.

Off to Negril we went to chill ...

After a couple weeks of work and jumping around and some not so good news and dealins, we finally left for Negril and what a welcome respite it was. Went into total chill mode.

I’m talking, we did basically nothing outside of hanging on the beach.

The first morning we woke up and ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

Many mornings we ate breakfast at the hotel because it came with the room. Other times, we just went to Serious Chicken or Jenny’s.

Every morning these guys would come by & try get us to ride - they're SO nice. Dwanye (on the left) and his partner, charge $35us dollars for 45 minutes.

Too rich for my blood. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70379-moneyeyes.gif[/img] All I could think about was how many liters of gas $35 could buy. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img]

I loved seeing these guys every morning starting at one end of the beach and then back down the other, trolling for customers.

One morning we decided to walk over to the water park - Kool Runnings.

Ahhhhh - can you say "totally overpriced"? It's almost $30 for an adult ticket! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70379-moneyeyes.gif[/img]

But I guess if you have young kids or you really like water parks, this would be a cool place to go.

Maybe.

Anyway we ended up turning around quick, quick and decided to go to Mayfield Falls.

MUCH more interesting and a REAL adventure it was.

Certainly something more interesting to look at, that's for sure.
It took us an hour to get there.

Easy drive - I think anyway. Or my husband's a really [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] good driver - or both actually.

The last 20 minutes of the ride the road is really bad tho, so careful.

As you come around one of the last really big corners and the last big hill, you buck up on this house way up on the side of the hill that was in the last phase of being built.

But I must say, I'm impressed with your packing skills. A chainsaw!!! I’m stressing getting through with one of those collapsible beach chairs with a cup holder. So no one questioned you when you went through security??? Did you carry it freely or was it in a carry on bag?

Mr. chats that when he bought his first ton of steel (was in the yard when I first came along in 2001) he paid $17,500 ... as you said - now it is up to $93,000 & $96,000 .... every day is jumpin up!!! **sigh** and stone, and sand, and cement, and blocks ~ ^ ^ ^ ~ still - little by little it will get done ~

Girl let me tell you how I know things are REALLY bad at the airport!

A few days before I bought the chainsaw, I checked American Airlines & the TSA website re luggage, contents, what's allowed, etc.

Both sites say that you can check a chainsaw but that it MUST be new and MUST be in it's own unopened box (so they can make sure it's new).

It has to be unused due to issues with saw fumes and altitude etc, etc.

Travellers also MUST report that they have packed the item when they check in.

No matter what, I didn't want to check the chainsaw in the box because I knew when I got to Mobay, when customs saw this lovely new chainsaw in a brand spankin' new box, they'd charge me out the arse! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

I took they saw out of the box and wrapped it in bubble wrap and taped it. I then put some white thread around it - *more on why to come*

This is the actual wheeling duffle bag that I have and I just packed my clothes and used the clothes to surround and cushion the saw. [img][/img]
I prayed [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] like I never have the nite before the flite because, no one to take me, I had to take a taxi to the airport. If they'd turned me around because of the saw, I was going to miss my flight!

My plan was to just play dumb and beg for mercy if they told me I couldn't take it. Stupid - I know but I HAD to risk it. We needed that saw big time and you can't even imagine how much it costs outta yahd! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70379-moneyeyes.gif[/img]

To my surprise and delight, they didn't even open my bag when I got to JFK. Nor did it seem, did they X ray the bag because surely, they'd have seen the saw and called me out on it.

And it seems the didn't even physically hand search [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] the bag, as they do sometimes.

When I got to JA and opened my luggage, all the thread was still around the saw and all clothes exactly as packed. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]
