Banff has really great shopping - expensive but nice. Lots of Japanese tourists visit the area for the mountains of course but also to see the Northern Lights. Subsequently, the 2 official languages in Banff arent French and English but Japanese and English







I bought some great runners at the Helen Hansen store. They sell gorgeous ski and outdoor clothing wear. I stupidly wore sandals - I have no idea what I was thinking - I of course had a back ache because I had no foot support given all the trail walking we did. So, I popped into the store and got some reasonable footwear.

This man was amazing. He has been coming to the same spot every Sunday for the last 45 years to play the horn thingy----my memory is so bad lately He lives in the town and is so proud of the area. He got everyone to to sing Amazing Grace while he played. He reminded us that what we are looking at is God in His full glory. That only God could have created mountains so big and a forest so beautiful. And then said a prayer for all of those who were listening.

Even if you werent a religious person, you would have been moved by his passion.

Yes I totally agree with him. As I mentioned down in F&amp;R, I can't help but see God and experience God when I look at nature and my experiences come no where close to what you're sharing here Nylah. My son was standing here massaging my shoulders and agreed that we must visit Banff &amp; Lake Louise.

By the way, didn't they film that movie about the giant aligator at Lake Louise?

of course you wouldnt let it pass His spirit was infectious. It was something to watch how ppl stopped talking and just began listening to what he had to say.

When I doubt how God may exist in the world being outdoors always confirm that He does exist. No what I am saying?

I have no idea about the gian alligator movie because I watched most of that movie with my eyes closed I'll ask my brother if he remembers where it was filmed.

Banff and Lake Louise are only the tip of the iceberg. There is Jasper, Canmore and other beautiful places around here. Google and see what I mean. If you do make it out here you know you have a tour guide

If I was permitted to take pictures inside some of the art stores I would have. We saw some beautiful First Nation and Inuit artwork. Just stunning stuff. My cousin and I were just in our glory!

This is the Three Sisters Mountain range just outside Banff. It was one of my favorite mountain ranges. It is represented a great deal in First Nation art - the mountain range is very scared to them. Let me see if I can find any info on the mountain range.

they are very cute runners indeed



the water is the same colour as in the Caribbean. I tried to google but didnt find the info I wanted but I know the hazy blue comes from a mineral deposit that runs into the lake from the glaciers surrounding it. When you canoe on the water you cannot see the bottom of the lake.

Lake Louise is another popular wedding spot for obvious reasons. Once upon a time I wanted to get married there as well.

In the winter time it is magical. They have horse-drawn carriages with fur blankets and spiked hot chocolate to keep you warm. Really romantic stuff.

The melting ice fills the rivers and lakes for many miles. Glacier water is milky near the glacier, then it gets more and more an emerald shade, then becomes clear as it travels further, and the sediment settles to the bottom. The color is a result of all the sediment suspended in the glacier ice for many years. There are several lakes that are a different shade of color as they are further from the glacier.

This is not just a feature of this glacier, we remember in the Furka Pass, Switzerland, seeing exactly the same color water changing from milky, to emerald to “normal” as the miles were traveled. The color of the water, especially when the sun shines just right, is one of the reasons Lake Louise is so beautiful.
