Tanya. We are not in disagreement so I don't know why you a trace me. Go back and read what I wrote and the links I posted. I speak SPECIFICALLY about wht went on outside of Kingston. It wasn't just light skinned Blacks....however, I am speaking of what I know when I am referring to light skinned Black school teachers, principls and lay preachers in the 1920s. The link I posted will show you many Black teachers who have been teaching in Jamaica from LONG before independence. Some stayed in Jamaica and others migrated and continues their careers in other countries.Comment

Even then, I supported your claim that "light-skinned Jamaicans were "prejudiced" against other Black Jamaicans...and agreed that they helped to perpetuate racism against those with darker skin shade; yet, you still cry racism and make the REAL victims look like the oppressors...mi naah fool yuh, yuh good.
You obviously didn't give the quote enough thought and instead became defensive going on a tangent about this and about that...how white people were hounded out of Jamaica, and not mentioning that thousands of black Jamaicans were forced to flee because of unfair laws laid down by the wicked British when they were i/c, that held back our people from being "optimized" (to use your own words) and those laws were never repealed then...

That is NOT true...blacks were holding teller jobs from in the late 60's/early 70's because some of my school mates (HS) did...In the 90's there was NOT one white face to be seen in most banks in Kingston, wurrusah in the rural towns...mostly all of them were BLACK.
remember that after Independence some British were sent back home to England, and their positions were taken over by blacks..(some recruited in England specifically for the job...another torie] many of them left of their own accord as well to goh back & face the Brrritter COLD, and FOG....many tears flowed on both sides...mi juss a look pan some a dem now. The principle and majority of the teachers at my prep school were black NOT light skin Black and with out dating myself I will say I know for a FACT that they had been teaching LOOONG before 1968.

Mico use to be use to train hed teachers for the allage schools that could not educate thildren to th e level that ris reruired for college entrance. colloege nedded Senior cambridge/GCE. the other colleges only trained wpmen for all age schools. they couldnt work in highs chools. Even today many of the teachers colleges still teach ein high schools. </div></div>

Welll, since a Catholic School mi did goh, mi can ongle speak for them...most of our teachers were trained at St. Joseph's Teachers' college at Mount Alvernia, and they were brilliant...as I have said so oftin here in the past..[of course] many children who failed the Common Entrance or never sat it for whateva reasons, had another avenue open to them...1st Year/2nd year and 3rd Year Exams..many said that 3rd Year was harder than Cambridge, tougher Standards and many a professional, even Doctorate Holders that I know personally, got accepted to Schools abroad with those qualifications.
These ppl were coached by their primary school teachers...and as for my High School, we had only 2 British trained teachers...elucution and "Drill"/gymnastics.. every body else was either Jamaican or American [nuns] and Ohh yes, Chinese for Math...so Doc mussie a talk bout BEFORE Woppie did kill Phillup.. Mi beg oono paawd'n , I juss cuddn't ressiss
..and as for primary school, we had some stalwars, brilliant, all Rannie's wife was one of our teachers..strong disciplinarians and tender and caring at the same time...they were the REAL unsung heroes called TEACHERS...
