yea but its also cuba's top sport...and i wouldn't exactly say cuba is in love with america;

American Baseball has been played in Jamaica, especially in Church Summer School!
This like saying don't put Computers in every school because Jamaicans have no history of using Computers on such a scale.
Don't introduce Bob Sled because that will destroy Paradise.

The argument as I see it was a theoretical reasoning about whether it would be possible to introduce Baseball in Jamaica. It has quickly as usual descended into one of judging intent and impugning ulterior motives.

from personal experience i know yutes used to love to play baseball in j-a; not the kind with bat and ball, just a ball and you hit the ball with your hand and run the bases...and to get you out the ball has to hit you rather than the person guarding the base...
so they already have the concept...
i don't see how one more sport could hurt...especially how basketball became so popular over the last 10-20 years inna yaad; i think it's even surpassed cricket in popularity...

an again i say, u will find that in the Americas, where US forces especially have had a presence, u find a holdover of baseball...an ur reference to Cuba means u have neva read any of the reportings coming out of Cuba re the professional ball tyrie ala di US.....dem prefah to tief di athletes cause dem no wan a scenario of having to deal wid di govament ala di chinese basketball player , way....an as baseball is to Cuba well den cricket is to yaad....we should be using sports participation as a way to build the character of our young wid di odd one tekking it professionally a possibility...di way we going dese days we farming people fi sports ala emancipation era thinking
