it's about choice jah yout. i have locks because i swim and run and bike. i have to wash my hair everyday in the summer. that's easier for me. what's good for me might not be good for pamela.

i know i look mad now but one time they said men were mad who suggested that black MEN stop creming their hair-
now it is the ones WITH creme hair who they make fun of (sharpton, nick ashford);

but it's not a matter of being 'mad'...in the 1800's talk of blacks having the same intelligence as whites or of a black president would have gotten you labeled 'mad'...

yes i'm mad with the mission of denouncing the scurge of the burning-hair-follicle-to-be-accepted-by-'society' black women...

the better question is why have women with naturally kinky hair accepted the philosophy that straight hair is superior to their natural hair texture...

to me it's akin to the majority of chinese women wearing curly afros;
that's why i take this whole 'we have overcome' thing with a grain of salt...how much have we overcome if we still don't love our selves?

BTW, I have seen Malia in twists on more than one occasion. So mommy isn't <span style="font-style: italic">afraid</span> of it, she simply selects another option for herself.

I actually don't know that most accept that philosophy, but I am willing to allow individuals to determine what is right for them.

yes she wears twists but certainly would not wear them for a big even like the inauguration-- for that she has to look her best

Look how much str8 hair women get up early a morning time fi blow dry and/or flat iron their afro. Or the ones that spend hours at the salon with foul smelling chemicals in their hair to get flat lifeless hair curly or wavy.

You seem like you believe all white women have 'good-hair'. They have trials and tribulations just like every other woman.
