Take anything from a stranger? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!! Now, in accordance with some of the above responses, when the stranger who showed up in front of our house in a car when I was 10 years old asking me to come to his car little girl... I very well might have done just that if given this scenario!!

Actually, children should be taught the opposite!

In my case I had a dog protecting me. Who will protect the innocent children who are taught from unsuspecting parents in scenarios such as this that acceptance of monetary gifts is OK?

The child has already been taught that accepting monetary gift from stranger is acceptable. It is only a matter of time for that impression of goodness to transfer to a different offer of monetary value with strings attached.

like many said it depends on experience (and the country) in the Bahamas giving kids $ in the presence of their parents is ok

I always carry coins to the US and give them out to whites whoever.. ..the Bahamian ten cent piece its serrated edge and everyone accepts it
