And Europe is all over the place, a bunch of very different cultures with different attitudes to race, which also vary according to which race you happen to be. I hope that made some sense!
In general, Europe has more conservative, monocultural and closed societies than the New World does. The Americas, North, Central, and South, are much more advanced in their race relations than Europe.
And it gets weirder than that. <span style="font-weight: bold">In France a black person who is fully assimilated into French culture </span>will be treated as French, but when the Metro (Subway) doors open and riot police enter the train to check people's ticket stubs to ensure that they have paid, they only check and arrest the poor north Africans.
Or Portugal, where in rural areas there are places where they've likely never encountered an African, vs downtown Lisbon, which can feel like Africa, full of people originally from Mozambique and Brazil.
And I agree with sardine's summary on the UK. </div></div>

I mean that if you go to Greece, the people are all Greeks and the food available is only Greek food, everyone is Greek Orthodox, etc.
Versus someplace like NYC where there are people from all over the world going to school together and where the different immigrant cultures influence each other - multicultural.

Things have settled down in Martinique, but were hotting up in Réunion. The government has just put some plaster cast on big, gaping wounds in order to shut people up.

They would have to go through the 'nostrification' process which might force them to pass and redo examinations. Even at college level they experience difficulties getting their documents acknowledged

Don't stereotype; the reactions are from how those outside the hip-hop culture stereotype them. Each generation will have a way of rebelling against the system or carving an identity for themselves and the environment they live in including fashion. Rock n Roll and Reggae music were also seen as rebellious and going against the grain/system with its own identity and fashion. Hip-hop is one the best things to happen to some of the poor ghetto yutes who otherwise would have turned out much worse. The same can be said for reggae and rock n roll. </div></div>
40 is right. When people see a black man wearing saggy jeans or a suit, the reaction is the same: they clutch their pearls and handbags in fear. Some even shoot like Bernard Goetz.

Its anti jamaican because a good deal of jamaicans were coming to the UK and turning some cities into the wild west,some of them wanted men from kingston.

The visa requirement was put in place to try and stem the flow of a-holes who made it bad for genuine applicants.

One last thing.
Are there certain groups doing certain jobs there under contract with their authorities?

Here you have Egyptians selling the newspaper throughout. Sometimes you have a few other Asians amongst them.

Then you have the Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Indians who put up the newspaper stands and other courier services.

Latin Americans have also cut out their slice with the languages and certain aspects of culture. I respect them for working with each other irrespective of race. <span style="font-style: italic">well they also use the blacks to rope een the whites</span>

What I have experienced here is that West Indians go mostly in single files. The blacks amongst the Latinos got into the job market quicker because they share opportunities and group up. I profited from that too.
One black dancer friend of mine from Dominican Republic was hired by a Columbian to teach salsa, while this man did not discriminate him because of colour he had no more than three students, people even complained that he was doing African dance.

For most groups including Asians, the tendency seem to be to go looking for opportunities amongst your own. My first big break was from an Egyptian.
While the West Indians and Africans go directly to the whites and group themselves diminutively.
