well not all the time. or it depends on what make excuses mean.

i try to look at all possible reasons sometimes or pointing out black peoples fault, sometimes that can be interpreted by some as making excuses for the white racist.

But isnt also true that african slaves came from different parts of africa with different cultures,different belief systems,and totally different sociological norms.
It would appear that even in captivity they still couldnt get their act together to unite,and to an extent that kind of mentality still prevails amongst black people.

When some black people accuse other black people of being a &quot;sellout&quot; they presume that there should be some kind of unity based on colour,therefore shared values,but it`s impossible for all black people to have shared values based simply on colour,... humans seldom work that way,we survive in the best way we know,and everyone`s experience is different,and everyone`s path is different,...you live and you die,and the in-betweens are determined by individual choices,...regardless of what colour you are,or where you live.

Personally I think that the same black people who label other black people as &quot;sellouts&quot; dont give a crap about black people,its got nothing to do with race,or colour,....they only care for themselves,...what they are actually saying is that &quot; you are successful at what you are doing,and I am not,and I disapprove of your methods for getting successful,I wish I was in your position but you didnt help me&quot;.

One thing you will never see is a successful black person labeling another successful black person a &quot;sellout&quot;,....and therein lies the rub.

Yuh made some good points fi real my yute. The Africans who were enslaved weren't entirely united.

I have heard many argue that the Maroons were sellouts (perceived or not), because they returned other enslaved Africans who weren't Maroons to their white slave owners. The Maroons did treaties and deals with british slave owners wherein they assisted with the recapture of runaway enslaved Africans.

I wonder which group the Maroons fell into the 'house slaves' or the 'field slaves'?

Aneddah ting Weren't the 'field slaves' more skilled than the 'house slaves' so having said that how can the 'house slave' see themselves 'better than' the field slave?

Doubt if slave owners saw a distinction between the two, other than that one set man the house whilst the other set man the fields? One set do the domestic work the other set was more financially valuable as they produced the crops that were turned into money? Besides some 'field slaves' were also slave drivers to do massa wuk including dishing out the punishment.

Bottom line sell out or perceived sellout slaves were in all shapes and sizes from both house, field and runaway camp???

you are right,those terms in themselves tells us how black people view themselves in todays societies,in slavery days both house and field slaves were precisely that,people who worked in the fields,and people who worked in the house,those terms were merely used to describe or show job description,I very much doubt if those terms were used in derogatory terms.

If we are discussing a topic and giving examples of white racism and some Black person comes in and excuses the behaviour, masks it or tries to pretend it's not happening, then those would be a few examples.

Now ME NEVAH CALL NO NAME!! However, the party has called their own name. (It wasn't You Tuff Gong.) With respect to the specific thread we were were discussing, Twiny did NOT say the same thing as Britisha. Not even close. Twiny's comment was excusing discrimination by arguing that the Black Jamaicans women who did not WANT the non-Black Jamaican men. Really, then if this is the case why do we have half Chini half Black kids, Black kids with Lebanese names etc. running around with no fathers in sight?

Nylah, Britisha did not say the same thing as Twiny. Not even close. Britisha came in and spoke about:

- the dynamics that were at play in Jamaican society pre-1972
- the fact that people tended to move in different circles including the role that perceived social class played. For example, 1 boardite (I won't say who but he or she can identify themselves if they wish) indicated that all of his or her Black cousins married non-Black men and his or her sister married non-Jamaican, non-Black men.
- Black Jamaican women would not have been interested <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 14pt">in poor non-Black Jamaicans as partners </span></span> and she spoke specifically and at length about some of the poor Whites of German descent - this is NOT the same thing that Twiny said said.

....britisha is HIGHLY articulate and if I have not summarized the gist of what she said accurately, I am sure that she will come in here and correct it.
