Well why didn't we see this when she was able to label and chastise any and everyone who took issue with her?

Another laughable, dishonest, chilling narrative that some many here on both sides have seemingly subscribed to is the notion that we can seamlessly graft the USA/Canada/English Experience onto Jamaica.

We start off with a discussion of Jamaica/about Jamaica/Jamaicans and related matters by the second line we start to hear cow manure about W.E.B. Dubois, Imitation of life, etc....
What I want proof of is how many white Jamaicans/self-loathing blacks are passing as white away from Jamaica, where are they, the proof that they got their hinny kicked?

This dishonest charade is was passes for discussion on this board, then you hear fool-fool people talking about those of us they claim cannot tolerate discussions on Jamaica vis-à-vis race? </div></div>

People have their own opinions based on their life experiences[s]...you cannot and will NOT change how people think, in the same way that they cannot and will NOT change how you think, unless that individual makes the change him or herself.

So anniboddie who think dem can convince anyone yeah or nay in a discussion...wheel an cum agen...dem ongle beating dem head against a stone wall..


I think we need to respect others' opinions without the ad hominems, because all this should be about is to stimulate thought/learning and honest exchange of opinions...you well know that Tropicana is addicted to these topics, this is Tropi, take it or leave it.

Now you are asking for proof, when some of these anecdotes are personal narratives...I, per se, cannot give any proof to anyone, but *I* agree with Tropicana, there are self-hating blacks who fit the profile she described. [this is an age-old identity crisis with them]

I happen[ed] to work with some of them from Jamaica...there was/is a woman who studied in England, she left Britain over 30 years ago, and not for hell she will drop the false British accent...she verbalised that she is NOT a Jamaican rah rah rah...she held a position of prominence on the job and kissed up and cow towed...well guess what? they fired her. That was almost ten years ago, and now she is kotching with a Jamaican man in the *hood*...lost her penthouse apt...so now she IS a Jamaican/black..Chubble ketch har, now shi fine har shut...

Many more stories I could give but it would take a year and a day to relate them all...


The proof is in the seeing.

...and btw, I am leaning towards the &quot;myth&quot; of race..Race is now viewed as a term which has no basis in reality...it is a white man's construct; but at the same time it doesn't say that we are blinded to the identifying features of those who held the &quot;black man&quot; in captivity for centuries and stole our birthright.

Always, remember, everyone wants to be heard...and where else other than on Jamaicans.com...

With pleasure but not in public. Britisha has already posted one such example. I posted one a few pages back. Then you can re-set your profile to disallow PMs. You and I did that once before and it worked out fine.

BTW, when I put something in big bold letters, it is not an insult, it's either because I want to make sure it's not missed or because the individual asking about it missed it the first time. Also, I never said you weren't born and raised in Jamaica. I merely expressed SHOCK that you were unfamiliar with these types of situations. I wasn't raised there and even I can give you lots of examples....and yes the examples in Imitation of Life and Pinky are HIGHLY relevant.

Britisha, it's not so much that I am addicted to these topics. I am not at liberty to vent about them in my day to day life so if there is an opportunity to that here....why not? Plus you have to admit. They do stimulate a LOT of discussion as few other threads do.

So again, I have to ask: why are you running up your blood pressure, and getting so worked up over people who you think are ashamed of being 'black' or passing for something else? What is that to you? Who cares? Why have you internalized and clearly accepted the racist 'one drop' rule? Is this reflective of some inferiority complex on your part? So what if there are people who YOU think should be <span style="font-style: italic">black</span>, but who don't actually consider themselves <span style="font-style: italic">black</span> - so what? So what if some people of mixed race chose to acknowledge their multiracial makeup, and not describe themselves exclusively as black? It was not just some homes were torched in the 70s I already explained that. It was homes and businesses of so-called White Jamaicans and other minorities.
Their homes and business were not just torched but they were systematically driven out of Jamaica all the way up till 2007.

The last known attack against a Chinese family was about 1979. A family living and doing business at Princess Street, four (4) Members of the family were shot to death, their dogs poisoned and their house and business razed.

What do you have to say about that?

Can you show me any comparable attacks on Black Skinned Jamaicans by lighter skinned Jamaicans?
Can you show me any pogrom by light skinned Jamaicans sustained over decades that sought to drive out Blacks out of their homes and take their property?

Or are you going to come with your old fallback the <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black'">Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade</span>?

awwwww Britisha!! powerful words these my sistren and hopefully by cut and pasting I havent taken the true meaning out of context or make it appear out of context.

I live in two worlds so to speak, the <span style="font-weight: bold">white family </span>here in Canada, and the <span style="font-weight: bold">black family in jamaica </span>and I have learnt how to flex in both worlds not easy but hey....life is a journey.

Every poster on this board I learn something from, even the ones who insult. Everyone has something to contribute, you might not be able to see or interact with someone in person, but!! spoken/typed words gives you a peek into the psyches on here.

That's why me always act the bubblehead pon here seriously though, I keep away from race and political post, just lurk and learn. I live the one drop rule every day of my life as a biracial person that do not look black, I am privy to the comments from whites who do not know am black. when blacks insult them just tell you strait up hey white gyal daon mek a cuss out yu clatt ~shrug~
